I know we have AG exempt just for having the pine trees on our property. It has to be a percentage of the land we own, we have ten acres, an I want to say it had to be 20%.
TSC told me I just need to bring them in a number to get the tax exempt. Not sure it would do me any good because I only buy flock raiser and chick starter there...

The tax exempt form will save you sales tax everywhere you buy chicken and farm stuff. Here sales tax is almost 10% so it really helps. It works on feeders, waterers, meds litter EVERYTHING your state allows.

We are 95% done becoming an LLC, should have the final papers next week after finalizing everything today.

In FL ag exempt applies to property taxes, not sales tax. You have to become a registered busniess and apply for sale/use tax certificate here and then can only apply it to items directly related to your business. So like a bakery can not get tax free on lumber. A chicken breeder cant get tax free on water founts, feed pans ect (because they are for use not resale). be sure you read YOUR states Department of Revenue site, and Department of Agriculture as well as county and city/town (if you live in one) laws concerning business and being legitimate.

Here the State tells the retailers what is and is not tax exempt. We don't get to pick and choice. But it can be different from one store to the next. I bought some bigger waterers for the chicks, got sick of filling them up 2xs a day. At the Co-op I paid sales tax and the TSC I didn't. Strange really. The Green Belting is for property taxes here but having that automatically gives the ability to file for and get a sales/use tax certificate here. No additional information is needed if you are Green Belted.

This will be our first year making a real go of it for the taxes. We will see how it goes. Not planning to incorporate or anything yet. Maybe down the road, but so far I don't see the need here. I know there are benefits... maybe the tax benefit would make it worth it. We will see.
