I would cry too. We have a old old old RIR hen who looks like death warmed over. She lays eggs the size of Scovie ducks (once a month or every two months) and has the greatest personality. She is from the second group of LF chickens we bought 5 years ago. I think she is like 10 yrs old or older. I travel to keep her vetted. She is the only one who does see a vet regularly. She talks to me, wanders into the house all the time, and is the baby. My DH has almost gotten into fist fights over her (people walking their dogs off leash. A bike rider picked her up once when he stopped to rest and tried to ride off with her). She is a part of our family.
@Snow- We are getting spits and sputters of snow here. Nothing ever sticks. TN is really great climate wise. I have been complaining of the cold all morning, but it is 40 here and that is cold to me. We will be into the 70's by the end of the week if the weather people are correct.
