I find it funny that when I have a chicken-y question, I get more and better responses here than if I search the forums and read the threads or post my own question.
That being said - I have never processed a chicken. I have put down chicks, but never have had to deal with the adults. I'm not squeamish about the killing part, but the defeathering/skinning/bleeding out just seems messy and I'm not set up for it. This summer I am planning on taking a bunch of roos to a processor.
Unfortunately, my EE Rooster is getting more and more aggressive. He's figured out how to get out of the yard and now waits in the front to change at anyone who tries to leave the house. He has to be dealt with. The last straw was this morning when my son went out to feed the dog, and couldn't get past the porch.
I'd like suggestions on the "cleanest" and easiest way to do this, with no special equipment, if possible.
If anyone knows a thread that shows how to do this, without the bickering about what is humane and who his stupid, that would work to.
