For all of you turkey people out there, are there Royal Palms that have the red color pattern instead of black against white? I think that would be an interesting bird.

None of the houdan eggs made it. All but a few had really bad air cells, so I wasn't expecting anything, but it is official. Some at least started. I am 0 for 0 on shipped eggs. I am pretty sure that the first were my fault. These I blame on the PO. Next up: marans. Some of those have a really good start and no wobbly air cells. I am hopeful that I will get 50% or more on those. They are in lockdown on Saturday...we'll see how they do. Fingers crossed!

:fl good luck....my hatch rate with marans is pretty dismal

How do you post a question on here or do you just jump in a thread, like I just did? I'm new here and have lots of questions. Sorry to step in like this.

It's crazy isn't it??? They say it's because people, ducks, chickens, and pigs all live so closely there. BUT, doesn't that happen in Africa, South America, Central America, etc. too??? Weird that so many viruses end up coming from that very specific region.

Other places don't have the same close mix as Asia. Plus, its often wet. Plus, Asia is a large part of the world surface is in Asia its a big place!

Marans can be tricky. Look out for them becoming too big to turn. If you have issues with them, ad really want them, its worth weighing them to make sure they don't get too big. If they are growing too fast fiddle with the humidity.

Where do you get all those interesting smileys? They're not BYC smileys.

They are the only ones available for free on my iPad. I'm cheap and won't pay for the other ones. These are from a mobile keyboard. If anyone needs instructions on how to load the keyboard onto your iPhone or iPad give me a shout.

Does anyone have

- I've been totally slammed at work the last few days & haven't had the chance to check my messages till now. I'm glad you were able to get my address. So excited about the goose eggs!!!!

And for littleameraucanamom: This is your fault. Totally your fault. I took two of the burliest chicks that hatched from the eggs you sent me & gave them to my little broody Araucana. It's her first time with chicks & she's really great. She's as sweet as can be to the chicks, and is just fine with me handling them (and her), but let another chicken get too close, & she's a fierce little 4 pound ball of black dynamite.
I absolutely love the buckeyes - they're by far the most adventurous and brave chicks I've ever seen. And that surprise cochin egg you sent me turned in to the most adorable little fuzzball! I think it's blue, but it might be black - I'm not quite sure...
