This is the cake my friend and I made for someone's wedding. They play an rpg game called portal? And this is pretty significant to the game I guess. We had to make a few adjustments as she dropped a layer when she was sticking the cake so it would up being an inch too short. :/ such is the life of a cake artist. At least we were able to adjust it well enough though I still have to adjust a few panels. Now have 40 cupcakes to bake and decorate to go with it.

Excited for the weekend. Garden and woodworking!

It was funny really. I was fine when they took him back..... all through the surgery which too an hour longer than they said AND nobody updated us on anything. But when I found out he was fine and started calling family to tell.... by the 3rd phone call I lost it... I was crying like a baby and driving

it was such a relief it was over.

I'm so glad to hear the good news! Don't feel bad, I did the EXACT same thing when my dad had a quadruple bypass about 7 years ago. I was calm and fine the entire time he was in there and even when we got to see him in recovery. When we hit the hotel room later, I completely lost it. I think I cried myself to sleep with relief and pure fatigue.

Take care of yourself too!

Daddy seems to have come through surgery just fine

When I have to face something tough I get tough to handle it. I block all emotions and deal with what is going on at the moment. When its all over then I can be emotional. You are right, it is the relief of stress that releases the emotions - but it feels so good when its over and everything came out fine.....

I am so glad for you.

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Donna, so glad about your dad! My own dad is scheduled for a cardiac ablation on the 23rd. I've already cancelled classes for that day. He's very nervous. It's supposed to be a "minor" procedure, but as he always says, a "minor" procedure is one they're doing on someone else. A few years back, my mom went in for heart cath, and ended up in emergency double bypass after they induced a heart attack. She's never been the same since. So Dad is understandably nervous. And he's 84. Tough guy, though. Still does his own farm work, roof repairs, whatever needs doing. Plus he had to learn to cook after Mom's surgery, since she no longer can. He's become a dang good scratch cook!

As far as ducks go, muscovies make great pets! I had a drake when I was a kid who would sit on my back. He was too big for my shoulder, but if I bent over and patted my back, he'd fly up. I've had them here, too. And several of them made pets of themselves. I had one lovely lady named Katie who managed to steal a couple nests every summer. She'd sit...and hatch...up to thirty eggs. I'd collect her and all the babies and move them into my garden. A temporary shelter, a swimming pool with a way in and out for the babies, and a feeder. Kept the babies from getting trampled by the dairy goats I had then, plus they'd eat all the bugs in the garden. They did very little damage to my groceries. Once when I let their feeder get empty, Katie flew out to meet me at the barn, and chewed me out but good.

I miss having muscovies. If I had a pond for them, I'd still have them.

Have a great day, everyone!
