Anybody who sends me eggs, I'm sorry to say, but if I get any more packages that require signature on delivery, I'm going to tell the PO to send them the hell back to shipper. I have eggs that get to sit all weekend at the PO. I'm not sure who sent them (no notification from anyone), but I got a tag in my mailbox from yesterday, so the eggs get to sit Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning because of some silly signature requirement and no notification that they were being sent. My PO has me as the beginning of their route and my lady brings my eggs in my house for me, so signature confirmation only screws the eggs over.
So, PLEASE NO SIGNATURE CONFIRMATIONS FOR MY SHIPMENTS AND PLEASE INFORM ME WHEN YOU PLAN TO SHIP EGGS TO ME! If this isn't acceptable to anyone who I've made a claim, then I'd rather take PP than a risky set of eggs.

That means I probably won't be on much for the next few weeks as we try to get things done around here. It's not really as bad as you would think. Most of it is normal Spring chores but with his job, we just never know when he'll be gone again.

I am so sorry, I hate cocci- I do not give medicated feed because you are introducing the cocci to the chicks- just in small amounts. It always seems during this weather change that is messes up all the chicks- we always see problems when it gets hot and rains for a few days. I am ocd about my chickens getting anything and so far every necroscropy (I am sure I spelled that wrong) has been simple things that just ran down the bird. The vet always tells me there really isn't anything you can do about it. Last time I called University of TN (they do the procedures on the birds there) they told me every chicken and every living creature has e. coli it is just to what extent (had one die of e. coli) and she told me that just about every bird carried Cocci and there really isn't anything you can do about it. If the bird is healthy they will get over it, if not, they will die.
On the issue of your Grandmother, I am so sorry to hear of your loss- My great granny died about 18 years ago from Altzhimers and it wasn't easy but, she had been bed ridden for months and had about lost all knowledge. I am also sorry you are the one who has to break the news to your mom- I can't imagine. My mom has been the one over the years to inform everyone in the family when someone passes away and it is so hard on her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

So true, I recently had a growout pen come down with Cocci, they really had no symptoms other than dropping dead over night. On a Sun, I lost four birds, on Mon, I lost four birds (started treating with Corid), on Tues I lost two birds and none since. I sent one of the Mon birds for necropsy and it was confirmed as just Cocci. In the pen, there were a group of 4 week old chicks and a group of 6 week old chicks and a big mixture of breeds, LF & bantam. All the deaths were one breed of 6 week old LF chicks.

Very frustrating.
