Well, I for one will be done with GFF once I receive my last batch of chicks this week. They have some great breeds, I just wish they paid more attention to the quality of their birds. I have a black barth chick I have to put down. It's developing a cross beak.

I've had it only 2 weeks.

Most likely not. They aren't about educating people about these breeds.
See. both of these things bother me. For as much as these chickens cost they could offer some information. Also pay a bit more attention to what you already have, not go out and find more.

The swedish flower hens I have from them I need to get pictures of. One is feathering out gold laced. Looks more like a GL Orpington then a SFH. As much as I appreciate the rare breeds... I do not raise Spitz or GL Orps. Out of ten I have 4 that have made it to older juvenile stage.
Now, the eggs I have gotten from Bhep. All of them are hearty fiesty little boogers who run more then walk and peep louder then my kids. I'm sure her stock came from GFF stock at some point. My thing is, why is it that the ones I get directly from them suck so badly, and hers (which cost me much less) are so darn pretty and lively. I say it is care and the fact that Bhep pays attention to her stock. (and this is exactly why when I need something, I ask her does she have it first)

Bhep cares about her birds and the health and quality of her birds. GFF cares about $$. You should not sell chicks until you know you are getting quality chicks from your birds. Cull hard and make sure what you start with is good quality birds. I've already culled 2 brahmas due to vulture hocks and looks like I have a 3rd to do. Doesn't matter how much I paid for them, can't let them pass those genes on. Guess where I got them from? GFF.

I think Beth said she has 200 birds on her farm. I've not gotten one bad chick. Love her to pieces. You would be 110% correct on your analysis of the two.
GFF's stock can not hold a candle to Jordan Farm stock either. I have not found one bad thing said about them.

Sad about the Brahma's. Love those happy goofballs.

Absolutely love my orps I got from Jordan Farms. I've thought about getting some of their Legbars too since they import their own.

I plan to put in an order with them for a few different things. I just want to wait until everything here is done before doing it. If I am going to spend money like that then I want to make sure I am ready for them when they come.
It is too bad that they do not have some of the other breeds. I am glad though that they do not in a way. To me it means they are working on what they have now.

I agree. When you are understaffed and have way too many breeds, you can't give them all the attention that is needed. Sad really. GFF has a nice set up going and good do so much better.

Yup, I watched my 2 new crowers go in order for like 5 minutes. It's funny that I can identify who is crowing out of all my roosters. My husband has no idea how. They each have a distinct crow.
I was so happy yesterday went in to feed the Brahma Bantams and the little Dark Brahma Cockerel was doing his best to crow so yeh me.

I know there has been lots of problems, we had a really bad hatch on our Chocolate Wyandottes but almost all of our chicks have been great, the last batch we had some not make it they looked rough when they arrived

. They did however say they would put the same chicks in our next order as extras. I have not had barth and sounds like I am glad of it.

I agree the bird needs to be first, I have had birds that I was not sure of the health of and had people wanting to buy, instead of selling them a bird I was not sure of I went to a different pen and gave them one of my favorites but I felt that was the right way to do things.
