I think Beth said she has 200 birds on her farm. I've not gotten one bad chick. Love her to pieces. You would be 110% correct on your analysis of the two.
GFF's stock can not hold a candle to Jordan Farm stock either. I have not found one bad thing said about them.

Sad about the Brahma's. Love those happy goofballs.

Thanks for the compliments.
My SFH came from a local couple, they did get their birds directly from GFF. They got theirs when GFF first started offering them...wonder if that makes a difference. I guess it was close to or around 2 years ago. I have not had any trouble with my SFH. I have added chicks from Wallie and contrastphoto (here on BYC). I don't feed or treat them any different then any of the others. They are excellent layers and beautiful to look at.

I know there has been lots of problems, we had a really bad hatch on our Chocolate Wyandottes but almost all of our chicks have been great, the last batch we had some not make it they looked rough when they arrived

. They did however say they would put the same chicks in our next order as extras. I have not had barth and sounds like I am glad of it.
I have 2 chicks from the last batch that I'm not sure what they are. The only blacks I was suppose to have in that bunch were the augsbergers but both have straight combs. So I'm baffled.

Beth, you love you birds and take good care if them. You are not just about $$. That's the difference. Jordan farms is another one. I have been there. Spent over an hour talking to Richard and saw all of his stock. He has a few of each breed/ color. They are quality birds. Nice guy.
And holy cow on my lemon cuckoos I got from him. I gotta take pics. He tried to sex them for me and I thought he had it backwards because they grew so big so fast i thought they had to be roos... Nope!

So I have a dilemma and want to see what you guys say. I had someone contact me about some of my chicks and after much chatting back and forth, she wanted to order some SFH chicks with my order from GFF this week. I said no problem and ordered and paid for them myself. She is suppose to pay for them when she picks them up. This is the same person I was suppose to get a pair of blue D'anvers from. I found out from her that she has this respiratory issue that pops up every once in a while that she treats with antibiotics.

I declined to take the d'anvers due to this and now, I really don't want to give her the SFH chicks either. Am I wrong here????

I think the research Tiffany was doing on the Augsbergers said they could have a straight comb as well. Don't hold me to that but I remember something about that.

One of them has a comb that looks similar in color to the Augsbegers but the other one has a rather large comb already and not the same color. Obviously not the same breed.

I would say don't punish her for the problems she has, just my opinion as long as she is being honest and trying to care for them.
