Morning all

we are flooded
he.gif
it rained, poured buckets actually, all night. Our goat pen in an ankle deep mud pit, the back pasture we had just gotten dry enough to seed is under water, the front where the LLO and Ancona go during the day is half under water. The Bresse looked at me like I was nuts for thinking they should be on the ground in a new pen after last nights rains. This morning I feel like we went 2 steps forward this weekend and over night fell 10 back.

If I could, I would send sunlight your way.

Thanks Angel, its not raining now, but boy is it wet. Hoping for a strong wind today pushing off the ocean to help move the water.

Hubby is building me a fodder rack to run in the garage for the bunnies.

He also thinks he can build some runs using PVC, T's, elbow's ect. I am not so sure about this idea. Bless his sweet heart for the thought though

Okay. Hatch after hatch of chicks developing but not pipping. Now, I just had a 100% hatch of my own turkey poults. Sixteen of them, all perfect. These were hatched in the hatcher tray of the cabinet. All the rest, with the exception of the button quail, were hatched in the hovabator. When I get back from Georgia, I'll need to check that Hovabator out, first thing. That doesn't explain my quail, but it's the best link to the rest of them. The chicks that hatched a couple days ago were also in the cabinet, because the Hovabator was occupied.

Sixteen lovely turkeys. And I just moved 14 more eggs to the hatcher tray. And then a dozen more to follow...and I'll be out of eggs. For now.

Sounds like possibly a temp issue.

Do you by chance have the new digital Hovabator? Check the temp on it because I have 2 new digital Hovas that changed temp on me. Both were spot on last fall and hatched everything great. This year they both somehow were over 4 degrees off even though the digital display still reads normal

I also have 2 local friends with the same exact problem and both have the new digital ones. I believe there is an issue with them because my older style Hovabators are all still spot on after many years.

If yours is the same problem I think we all need to call GQF and let them know there is an issue with their digital incubators

Morning!
I usually sell olive eggers as extra chicks. Someone wants x and decides since they are here to buy them. Rarely is that what people come for.
Just wanted to put this out there if anyone wants a side swap, not sure what I would swap for but give it a try.  Silver Seabrights nice quality ones..... guinea eggs maybe. TRY ME.... PP work too LOL

I have
18 BBS Copper Marans eggs
32 Lav/Split/White Am eggs (I just hatched 7- 5 lavs 1 split and maybe 1 white still looks lav but has more yellow)
12 maybe more SBEL from both pens (lav Roo x WL and CCL roo over WL crossed with Exchequer and WL's) most from the Lav pen
4 Olive Eggers Black Split Am covered by BCM roo
9 New Hampshires (GNH hens x Reg NH roo)
9 Cuckoo Marans  (I am going to be moving some birds around in that pen soon so I will not have these fro a few weeks after the move)

I am getting LOADS of these eggs everyday and can't keep up.  I have been getting nearly 10-15 eggs a day from the Marans :th   Might be selling some pullets out of that pen.

Is anyone having any luck selling Olive Egger Chicks?  I can't seem to GIVE them away right now am I the only one?  I had people ask for them but so far no takers.  I think I hatched my last batch today.  Might have to wait and sell the pullets when they are older.

What would you want for these three? Maybe not ALL of the marans and ams though, lol.

I need some help, advise, tips, something! I have a new GQF 1502 cabinet incubator that works great. I also have a second hand 1500 that I'm using as a hatcher that doesn't work great. Every night the temp inside drops, and takes a long time to come back up during the day. Obviously, I'm not getting good hatches because of the temp drops. I've tried wrapping the cabinet in insulation, but then the temp climbs too high. Right now I'm hatching in 2 hovabators since I can't trust the cabinet, but I'm getting 300 quail eggs soon and NEED the cabinet. Anyone with ideas?
