fairly straight forward.

  1. I would deffinetly be looking at the heating system in it.
  2. calibrating the thermometer used
  3. making sure the fan is running properly
  4. take the darm thing apart and make sure it is good cleaned

all easy things to do, and while cleaning you may find a loose or broken connection too
I took it apart and cleaned it when I got it - I could easily have knocked something then, LOL. Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll be working on it today.

I tried hatching my shipped eggs in the cartons air side up and I am proud to report back that all my marans and cochins from Sahwithchicks have hatched!!-- all of them!!!
Moved our chocolate trio into their new coop yesterday- they are loving it and I think the girls are giving up their broodiness!!

I think they may all be spoken for... Y'all are GREAT! I will have more the end of the week I am sure if you want to do side swap of something! Just PM me

YAY!! I love hearing when people have good hatches! Donna, I have a hard time selling olive Eggers too. I managed to sell a whopping three today, only becuase they where blue, and because the bought some BCM chicks too

I stayed home from work today...dizzy and nauseous this morning when I was in the shower. not sure why, but feeling okay now. so I put the chicks from CPL and BM6 outside for the first time in an x-pen. (needed to clean their bins) they seem to be enjoying themselves! it finally got warm enough that I felt they might enjoy it and not be huddled up the whole time.

and all three broodies have their babies out of the coop.

I wish dh hadn't taken his camera on his trip!!!

That would be JUST FINE!  You just said SOMETHING in the post so I didn't know.... AMS would be FINE.  I can get them out this week!  :celebrate   Like filling a swap. :celebrate   I will PM you for shipping info.

Info has been updated as of this post.  Betta's offer is pending a counter and amounts of each she requested a swap for.  I will up date as I find out.

You can send my SBEL swap whenever you want.

How can the Post office missend a package? If you read the label or even scan it in you know where it is going- what is the problem? Had a package send off on Friday- should have arrived today- it hasn't because the usps claimed that it was missent and is being re-routed to the correct destination.

its like they have a good week.... and then several bad ones

I've had a sale fall thru- I've got a set of double laced barnies and a set of polish up for a side trade. I'll have to double check total numbers, but polish is at least 10 and barnies... I'll get back on that one. Can be shipped tomorrow. Whatcha got to trade?

I had a package of eggs end up in a local PO about about 75 minutes from here a couple of months ago. Luckily the shipper was watching the tracking and alerted me. I had a friend I had been meaning to visit that happened to live in that town, so I drove over there to pick up the eggs so it wouldn't be another day and more trips to the sorting center for my eggs. When I called the PO to make sure they held on to them so I could pick them up, her response was "What are they doing here?"

I had 3 hatch out of 12, I think. The fact that the PO is losing money is no surprise to me.

FYI new and old swappers alike.

since we have so many new faces, I thought it would be to clarify a few things.
  1. SHOW QUALITY PURE BRED: the ENTIRE flock is pure bred of the SAME breed/color and not mixed with ANY other flock or breed
  2. SHOW QUALITY PURE BRED: is one set color (exceptions BBS and Chocolate) (wheaten, blue, lavender AM in one flock are NOT pure/sq)
  3. SHOW QUALITY PURE BRED: meets and follows the writen standard for the breed. Not part of the standard, not "your" standards

New colors of a breed should STILL meet the basic written standard for the breed. PLEASE buy a copy of the SOP and read it concerning the breeds you wish to offer as SQ and pure bred. The SOP is protected by copy write laws so you can not find the entire thing online anywhere. if you only go by the small snip it available online for some breeds you are missing out on a ton of information.

Breeds which are new to America, and who are excepted into the SOP currently should NOT be listed as SHOW QUALITY. They can be listed as pure bred if they are maintaned as an independent flock with no other breeds mixed in.

ie............Ancona ducks can not be listed as SQ, they are not in the APA SOP. CCL also can not be listed as SQ for the same reason.

Mixed flocks are great, Easter Eggers are very popular as aremany other mixes. This is just to clarify what should and should not be listed as SQ and as pure bred.
