Yeah, I agree. Got 7 eggs shipped, 5 went to lockdown, 3 hatched and 2nd one just died for no apparent reason.

1 chick out of 7 eggs left. Thankfully have a dozen more in the incubator. Heavy sigh!
try keeping them standing up. I tried that because I had horrible hatches with fully developed shipped eggs and it worked- well... last hatch everyone came out which was the best I had had on shipped eggs.

What do you use to keep them standing? Would a styro egg carton work? I could maybe take an egg holder out of my hatcher if I did some rearranging.

Received the Araucanas from RayandDebi (sorry, I forget your new screen name!) and MF cochins from Daze333. All beautifully packed and completely intact. I have two more shipments of eggs and I wasn't thinking and set a bunch of my own eggs the other day... So, I get to double stack and scrounge for space. Really... You'd think with a sportsman and two LG's that you'd have more than enough space. *Sigh* I believe I have an addiction.

Are you going to have room for the Midgets? I also need your addy along with when to ship. If not now I can always set them here. I'm always taking something out to hatch, and low and behold there's some room.

Hi peeps!! My goodness, I have chicks coming tomorrow. More then I had planned for but more is always better, right?

COF, I didn't ask them about my logo. I just ordered it. So we'll see what they can do or if they can. It's not really that intricate.
If you didnt get a message that they needed you to contact them you are good. I had to email back and forth with design and they got it ready today and then issued me an invoice today to pay.

I just checked and I have more room than I thought. I have 90 spaces, plus the one LG is actually just about empty (hatching now), so I'm good for shipments. I was thinking I had much less space than I actually did. I haven't candled in awhile either, so maybe I'll have even more space, lol.

aluminum actually doesnt show up on x-rays. Hubby was telling me how they had to scope a kid who swallowed an aluminum pop can tabto find it. They did x-rays first and it never showed up. His team came in and found it right away and removed it. So not too sure what if any protection foil gives to eggs.
But it could be good for a laugh if the recipient opened their box and found a bunch of eggs, each wearing its own little "anti-alien/x-ray" tin foil hat. :)

I like the cardboard ones too - because I can use them to absorb moisture and keep the humidity up right around the eggs - an not in the rest of the incubator.

Do you use the big flats? Have you ever used the egg carton ones? I think the flats have more air room than the cartons.. I hatched bantam eggs in the cartons but I am hesitating doing the larger eggs in there - they fit a bit tight and I am concerned about air flow.

I have heard some people use the styro ones - but they cut the bottoms off so the egg just rests in them - not really sitting down in the bottom. They said it was to let the chicks hatch - but all my bantam chicks made it out of the un-cut cardboard egg cartons just fine - I really liked that they couldn't kick over the other eggs when they were getting out.

Today was interesting, to say the least. I hit the flea market/auction and ended up SPENDING $75 today. Lunch, snacks, toys, rabbits, eggs, waterers, etc. But, hey, I didn't come home with any birds..... G never said anything about not getting rabbits... They're rigged up outside with a run and an enclosed hutch. Ten of the little buggers.
