I think it's the auto sexing capability of it. The Legbars took off too when they first came out. Got to love being able to sex at hatch.Wow! Seems like a lot of people are getting Rhodebars. Sounds like they're really catching on quickly!

Most definitely! That's why I'm trying to get a lot of autosexing breeds. I am TERRIBLE at sexing birds. I honestly can't tell male or female until someone crows or lays an egg. lol...
I just wanted to check in with everyone. I have been really sick all week. I had my immune system killed off Friday to help my crohn's disease and I must have picked up a bug at the hospital. I can't take more than 3 steps without stopping to catch my breath. I got IV antibiotics yesterday so hopefully they will kick in soon. I didn't get any thing out this week and I won't be able to get to the swap at at Troy tomorrow either. This is just so depressing, not being able to do anything. I now have 300 PM's I'm not ignoring anyone. I have a big hatch Monday and will still get those chicks out even if someone else has to do it. I'm very, very sorry not to be getting anything done but wanted to let you all know what is going on. I'll try to get to as many PM's as I can. DH has been helping me with everything but we are still in the middle of moving so the timing could not be worse. I hope everyone is doing well . Thank you for bearing with me.

Crystal we got 6! I guess there were six mini moose eggs in there not five.

Aren't they just the cutest itty bitty mms ever? Now kiddo needs to come up with three more names. They are soooooo tiny and cute.
And this is just the prettiest Icelandic that we got from notafarm.![]()
I tried hatching Rhodebars--got one. And it's a cockerel. He's beautiful, but lonely. I don't know if I want any more eggs of those to hatch, but I'd love to find someone who would send me two or three pullets!
I have 3 nice RIR girls that I could use. What happens with the males from the Rhodebar/RIR cross? If you can't find any, put some really nice Rhode Island Red hens with him. That will improve your color and body type and also produce some female offspring that you can then breed back to your cockerel (cull all male offspring).
Congrats on the cuties! Guess what I have?!? I woke up to one little MW and 3 others pipped!!! They're anxious to come out and play - they aren't even due to hatch until Sunday. I'm SOOO excited and I can't wait to get home from work to check on them! All that excitement and I have to be at work.
