Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I just wanted to check in with everyone. I have been really sick all week. I had my immune system killed off Friday to help my crohn's disease and I must have picked up a bug at the hospital. I can't take more than 3 steps without stopping to catch my breath. I got IV antibiotics yesterday so hopefully they will kick in soon. I didn't get any thing out this week and I won't be able to get to the swap at at Troy tomorrow either. This is just so depressing, not being able to do anything. I now have 300 PM's I'm not ignoring anyone. I have a big hatch Monday and will still get those chicks out even if someone else has to do it. I'm very, very sorry not to be getting anything done but wanted to let you all know what is going on. I'll try to get to as many PM's as I can. DH has been helping me with everything but we are still in the middle of moving so the timing could not be worse. I hope everyone is doing well . Thank you for bearing with me.

Rachael

I'm sorry you've been having such a rough time. I'm one of those people that likes to "fix it" when something is wrong. It's frustrating to live so far away from people on here when you want to help. My cousin has Crohn's and I know how it can drag things to a halt sometimes. I hope your procedure gives you some relief. I'm sending optimistic wishes for healing.

Crystal we got 6! I guess there were six mini moose eggs in there not five.

Aren't they just the cutest itty bitty mms ever? Now kiddo needs to come up with three more names. They are soooooo tiny and cute.

And this is just the prettiest Icelandic that we got from notafarm.

Congrats on the cuties! Guess what I have?!? I woke up to one little MW and 3 others pipped!!! They're anxious to come out and play - they aren't even due to hatch until Sunday. I'm SOOO excited and I can't wait to get home from work to check on them! All that excitement and I have to be at work.

I just put my 6 of my CCL ladies in with a Rhodebar roo. Chicks will be sexable and lay pretty green eggs. They're 23-24 weeks old now so we're on egg watch!

I tried hatching Rhodebars--got one. And it's a cockerel. He's beautiful, but lonely. I don't know if I want any more eggs of those to hatch, but I'd love to find someone who would send me two or three pullets!

If you can't find any, put some really nice Rhode Island Red hens with him. That will improve your color and body type and also produce some female offspring that you can then breed back to your cockerel (cull all male offspring).

I have 3 nice RIR girls that I could use. What happens with the males from the Rhodebar/RIR cross?

Didn't I tell you guys that some of the little stinkers like to break out sooner than expected? I prefer them that way, as they are generally the healthiest. I hope you get home to some sweet little buggers. You are going to love them. I have a few basque now too. I think 4 have hatched. Two died after pipping, but they were huge! One is extremely yellow with no stripe. It's also the fattest little chick in the bunch. We are still waiting on two to hatch. Wish they would hurry I need to put one new eggs in and I still have to clean it out first. It's always lockdown, hatch, clean, and repeat. Brooder a looking a little full too, so I guess it's time to move some chicks down to the shed.

Yellow headed poults will carry the blue eyed gene. Beige headed is brown. That doesn't mean they will have either color, but it does mean they can pass the gene along. They will all have blue eyes until sometime around 12-15 weeks. Then it's like the eye color changes over night. Our juveniles eyed just changed about a month ago. They hatched just before Xmas. I watched them chase a robin today. They are sooooo funny sometimes.

I wasn't so thrilled at first about the rhodebars but, we have customers that want a pullet with no doubts whatsoever so... that's when we ordered eggs. No mess ups- no bringing it back because its a roo (although we have a no refund or exchange policy for sexed chickens- we do take them back if the customer just wants to get rid of them, and that happens really often)
