Crohn's is a terrible frustrating disease. Just take care of yourself and take it easy. Not getting a chick or eggs at an exact time is NOT a national disaster. Everyone on here is a wonderful person and will understand your situation.

Wow, ditto x100!! I lived in South America for 18 months as a young adult and came back with parasites that left me miserable... I couldn't gain weight, no energy, couldn't eat anything fresh because it would upset my stomach, bouts of sitting on the toilet hurting or not being able to go at all... it was awful. I got married in the meantime and we started talking about having a baby, but I couldn't get pregnant, miscarried, etc.. Finally was able to find a tropical disease specialist who figured out which parasite I had and treated me for it. Talk about a night and day difference, but it still took a year or two for my gut to fully recover from all the trauma. You can't make Crohn's go away like that, so

Ok, also catching up on the thread... lots to catch up on and had to skip a few pages... here goes:

Krafty: those pics of your birds were awesome!! Wow, thanks for posting, they are really pretty, makes me wish I had MORE space, lol!

Congrats on all those chicks you got madam, you have an amazing flock going!!

Very interesting conversation about the permanent markers/ stamps for marking eggs... Definitely putting a custom stamp on my wish list and bookmarking that website... THANK YOU!!!

Profti... I was

your story about the rooster in your classroom, that is awesome!!

Hatching: I have tried my own eggs on their sides, all the eggs in cut down cartons, styrofoam and cardboard.. .Definitely have better hatches with them upright in the cartons, may be a slight difference in the ones that hatched in cardboard rather than styrofoam, I am going back to cardboard and monitoring again... Also want to do a "study" with some EE eggs to see difference in fine point permanent marker and pencil...hmmm...

I know I missed something, sorry!!

Have to post this separate b/c it keeps getting buried...

REALLY curious about what breeding strategy ya'll are choosing... line breeding or flock breeding.... and pro's/con's??

Once I have my flocks set, I don't plan to bring anymore birds in. So I think that is line breeding: father to daughter, son to mother.
