Morning all........... heading out to wade through some deep water. So much rain we lost the entire rear pasture. We lost the front yard the LLO flock has use of too.

So hoping we get a good wind this weekend to dry it out and then we shall have a dump truck of new dirt brought into the front to fill it back up again.

Squee! My SOP came today!! I kept thinking it was overpriced. I didn't realize it is text book sized and quality (better than some!) so excited...I have a chicken encyclopedia to read

No really, I like reading encyclopedias. Nick name growing up was "Encyclopedia Brown," because I was always reading them.
It so well worth the investment. Enjoy!

Good Morning peeps a couple inches of snow this may morning , first time in recorded history the news is saying , still waiting on my spring swaps to be filled received a message said they were going out 2 weeks ago ....must be the snow etc. etc.
everyone have a great day.

Good morning, everybody! I get time with tea to surf the thread this am, that's it -- gonna be another busy day! I took some pics yesterday and will be taking more today and hopefully posting some :) COF, I hope the pasture dries up some for you -- we're having gorgeous weather here in mid-Ohio for a change! I'll wish some down your way :)

I just set my last round of eggs until after June 8th. I am getting over 18 eggs a day. I just pulled the new chicks out of the hatcher, cleaned the hatcher out and got ready to set more eggs tonight. Before I set eggs, I candle what's in there. I kept hearing peeps... I had 4 already pipped eggs! I didn't think I had any to put in lock down yet! I need to start keeping better records.

I have my hatching calendar, but I've learned to simply write the projected hatch date on the top of the egg when I set it -- otherwise I invariably lose track of a few!

Oh which days do I candle turkey eggs? Like with chickens you candle on the 7th day.

Allsummedup, I try to at least give it ten days on turkey eggs before candling -- they can be much slower to show development than chicken eggs. That said, this current batch of turkey eggs had very clear veining by day 7 (I was candling everyone else, so figured what the heck)

Have a good day, everyone!

Hi sah! Yes they have :) Sadly, though, the first fertility test did not go well. I'm not surprised with all that fluff! I have to trim fuzzy butts :) Meant to get to it yesterday but ran out of time. I did get pics of my buff brahmas from you in Dec, tho! I've got to take more pics today so I'll upload 'em later.

Nope!  Dottes are Awesome!!!!!  Happy and healthy....they are huge!

Yay! They really are gigantic. The ones I have in the brooder now are the same size as the midget white turkeys and peachick that hatched the same day. A few are even bigger!

How are the chicks that you were losing? Did you figure out what was happening? :(

Just unpacked nj eggs from cjwaldon. The PO folded in one side of the box, but all 6 eggs are intact! Thanks Candice!
Every single airsac is ruptured, which is a bummer... But I won't turn them and see if that helps. It looks like the literally three the box on the ground as hard as they could to fold the side of the box like they did. It's not even the corner dented, it is the entire side rippled.
