Quote: them and the phoenix...I kept the phoenix, but every time it gets cold and rains I lose one, I started with 8 and am down to two, thankfully it's a pair. Hopefully this weather will quit being so durn crazy before I lose them too....very fragile birds apparently.

oops I forgot, I have three, one is from the eggs I got from you, and still in the baby brooder.

OK...................gosling update

.........................Someone here from my hub in Orlando (actually 3 someones) stop everything with one stay 2 hours past his shift to email, text and call Memphis TN to find these babies.

-------------------------Finally the box was located.................they didnt think it would fly out until after 5 our time to not arrive until after 9 local time........ we dont get express mail in over night so it would be tomorrow before they were sorted and sent here to our island.

------------------------Supervisor in Memphis personally drove them to the air plane <early flight> (it was already packed and leaving) and they got a hand delivered ride to the pilot who is in charge of them now.
Wow. Those folks need a Big Thank You. Yes, someone at FedEx screwed up but these folks went out of their way to make it right! Hope they make it alright after all.

Fed ex is contracted by USPS to carry the express mail (which includes birds) but no we cant ship directly with Fexex LOL figure that one out

I am very blessed my hub takes pride in their work and have worked with our farm in helping us set up our shipping policies and shipping days of the week. We review things regularly and listen when the supervisors say it isnt safe to send, or if they foresee a problem. They also work with us when we need to get birds to an area which cant receive lives. I have been on the phone for 45 minutes before with them routing to a spot as close as possible so the buyer could drive to pick up. (Like Chattanooga can not get any live birds so we route as close as possible)

We had 2 text messages and 2 phone calls from our transportation office last after we got the goslings picked up checking on them to know they were ok. Done from their personal cell phones on their time. Nice to have workers who care.

I am also not one to take no for an answer. I ask for a supervisor when I need answers. I dont expect my PO offce to know the bird regs so I asked before we ever started shipping for our sort center/hubs main contact. We now the daytime desk and after hours numbers incase we ever have any issues. I am stuborn as all get out, but ti pays to get a good line of communication going if you are going to ship as often as we do. Then if there is an emergency there is someone to turn to.

and for the record it was the USPS who royally screwed up. They took posession of the box from FedEx, scanned it in as unclaimed and set it on a shelf in the ditribution center in memphis, not the sort hub where it would have been shuffled out on a plane.
