I always send mine as a gift. If I offered $15.00 then the person that took my offer should get that $15.00 NOT 14.77 OR WHAT EVER PAY-PAL TOOK OFF. just my 2cents.

Due to recent events we were asked to no longer send as a gift, but I don't think it was officially added to the rules, just something that was posted by the thread admins last week some time...

I lost another chicken last night. I even had the trap set and everything. I'm in a bit of denial, as there isn't evidence that a coon got in the coop, and the birds where all Locked up good.
The chicken I lost was my cochin lap chicken I would go sit in the coop, or on the porch and she would come jump up on my lap, but She would peck me if I tried to pick her up haha but she loved to follow me Round. She is really stubborn about getting in the coop, she tries to roost under the house by her self, but since the BCM pullet got taken by the coon this weekend- she has been hanging out with the remaining BCM. Last night when I locked them all up, the BCMs where in the nesting box coop all jumbled up and I thought I counted her with them, but she must have been under the house... I'm so upset! She really was my pet, more then the rest... She was young, but would have been an excellent breeder to. I keep hoping I will see her pop up somewhere, but she always comes and greets me when I go outside to let the chickens out.

I'm going to camp out in the coop for like a week with my shotgun! I dare that coon to come back again!!

Thanks. It's frustrating. I have lost 4 Cochins this fall. 3 (7 chickens in all!!) of those to raccoons. The first time we lost chickens, we fixe up the run and coops differently, but it wasn't good enough. I now have to decide to build a big coop to keep them safe all together, or build desperate breeder pens and corral them into ther respective pens every night after free ranging all day. Once the BCM get older I plan on turning our current run (30 feet by10 foot dog kennel with small coops inside) into their breeding pen. Since the only other roosters I have free range are Cochins, I guess it really wouldn't matter.

I think the Mods want it to be Reg and not a gift. If you want you can offer some more to cover the PP fees.... I think it would be about $1.... me I don't worry about it.... I know there is a fee and it is just the cost of using pp.... no biggie.

watchng and honestly shouldn't be swapping anyway, so not a big deal, but...

anyone have any recommendations for an inexpensive but decent small incubator I can put on my Christmas list?

me too...that sucks! husband heard some yipping last night and now I am terrified...is yipping a fox or a coyote? the goats and chickens are locked up at night pretty securely but still scared. who knows what a coyote could do strength-wise! he walked the dogs around the goat pen this morning to mark the territory...hopefully will help.
