DM, that's how they looked. Except so did the Australorps. LOL! Yes, the BCMs are hatchery stock -- if they are BCMs. If not, I got two extra 'Lorps One of these days I need to get a breed standard book!

All my hatchery birds are going in one big mixed flock, for daily egg layers and 'cause they're pretty running around the yard. My good birds are all getting their own runs, come spring!

The SOP will not help with Hatchery birds. LOL and probably not most of the birds swapped on the thread. There are a lot of breeds not admitted to the SOP like BLRW, Most Marans, CCL, NJ, Lavenders (most I don't think are accepted) and the list goes on and on......

And with the landraces, well, I sympathize with anyone trying to codify a breed standard for them, lol!

My australorp pullet wasn't as '"fluffy" as my FBCM pullets, plus mine have feathers on their shanks and had coppering in their hackles at a young age, but my FBCMs aren't hatchery, they're from a breeder, the australorp is hatchery, her black was always a little 'blacker' if that's possible, and her feathers seem to have more of the green tinting than the FBCMs, and that's since they were younger and started feathering in.... I don't know, they also just look different... the australorps tail was straighter and longer also...

If you have claimed eggs before Nov. 14th (unless the offer stated there would be a delay) and have not received them or a DC# that they have been sent, please PM me with the details. If you have claimed PP and it has not been sent within 3 days, also let us know. We will try to make sure we keep on top of any trends.

I have finally finished a summary of all the swaps since the beginning of this thread up to Nov. 15. It is sorted according to each swapper and includes the swaps you claimed and the ones you promised. It can be accessed here:

Here are this week's current standings as of 6:00AM EST, Thu. Nov. 29. For all potential new swappers, we welcome your participation, but please read the rules on page 1, post #1 of this thread.

Game #1 - Whenever someone goes over 7 swaps, they lose 2 swaps the following week. The first person to catch it and post "Jinx"- (name of person going over), gets an extra swap in the current week. If crazypetlady (CPL) goes over, everyone gets an extra swap that week, and the first person to catch her and post "Jinx-CPL" gets a special prize of eggs from CPL. Start stalking!

CPL went over this week, so everyone gets 10 swaps this week!


Game #2 - Whoever claims the 50th, 75th, and 100th swap of the day (yes, I think we will get up that high this spring or before) will win an extra wild card swap to be used in the winner's week of choice.


Those in red are done swapping until 12:01 EST on Sun. Dec. 2. Those in yellow are getting close to a limit.

Below is a list of the new swappers that still have to complete their initial 7 swaps, so are limited to one swap at a time until each one is verified. Once you have been cleared by crazypetlady, kraftyladies, babymakes6 or madamwlf for another swap, you may claim another, regardless of what my list says. I don't keep track of whose swaps have been verified, just the swappers that need to have that done. My list is only published once a night, but your swapping status may change a few times during the day. Once all of your 7 initial verified swaps are completed, your name will be moved to the big list. I may not have everyone's name here that is already swapping, but all new swappers will be added here until I hear differently. Yeah, I haven't actually spent much time trying to tell them apart since they were babies. I'm going to investigate more thoroughly today, just 'cause!

WOW - Price is a lot more than for day olds!!  How much are supplies? Then the price of the chicks - Someone would REALLY want them, wouldn't they???

It's NOT $50 to ship chicks no matter what anyone tells you. I just sent 18 chicks to someone for 24.00 . The boxes are $5 if you include shipping to get the boxes and the heat pad is $2

So the hatching gods must have been smiling down on me...just had my first 100% hatch from shipped eggs...Juststruttin sent me 10 OE's, 5 OE/DLBB and 5 Legbar/Penedesenca, and all TEN hatched!! I even have a couple of blue and one that looks like it may be a splash. I am still in shock and absolutely over the moon

Oh, and forgot to add I also had some CL hatch, five pullet chicks and one roo, I can't believe it! LOL.

Sending out good hatching vibes in the hopes that the good luck catches!!!

I would NOT be offering chicks on swap if it was 50 to send each one. I have sent them as cheap as 17 for 6 chicks and that IS express mail.
