I just opened my bator and chicks came popping out from every shelf, lol I think it is a 100% hatch -1 white leghorn that still hasn't pipped. Soooo I lost that cheat sheet you sent I think I see splash Marans? And all 4 blue eggs with L or ML are lav amers? And TONS of blue barred rocks. Some white chick with a spot on it's head? A sex linked maran? I didn't expect them until tomorrow so I didn't have the hatching baskets ready. There are a lot of either blue, splash or lav chickies.

WOW, AyeUpChuck! That is quite the setup!

Sometime this winter I'm building another incubator. A big one. With auto-turning, because turning 60 eggs by hand is for the birds! (No pun intended, but, well, it IS!) What I'm trying to figure most of all is how to keep the air temps consistent throughout. I'm thinking heat source at the bottom, actually, because heat rises, and then a fan at the top to circulate air back down. Anyone here had experience building large 'bators?

Chiquita, that's what I was going to do, but the temp variation between the bottom eggs and the top eggs made me too nervous! I don't know why it's so large in this particular 'bator, but it's like a degree and a half. So yeah, I'm hand-turning :) I suspect the problem is it's a cheap cooler, and pretty porous.
