So, I don't have much experience selling birds, but I really think you have to be careful with 'free to good home' ads. Whether its roos or cats & dogs, often they are snatched up by unscrupulous people who take free animals are reselling them or using them for illegal purposes. I know it's tempting because you want to get rid of them, but I would be really nervous letting any roos go for free. Anyone who legitimately wants one shouldn't have a problem paying a few bucks for them. That being said, I haven't had any luck selling my extra roos, even when I list them for $5.
I have no problem giving roosters away. Obviously no one is going to buy them. I've seen roosters on there that people try to sell and I see them every week. I list them for free. They could be dinner or someone's new pet. I don't need to know.

I hatch so many I have to give them away.  I usually make it an all or nothing deal.... no picking and choosing breeds. The guys I give them to, grow them out for meat.  Which is a good thing since most of the roos are really culls that don't need to be breed.  If I have some that I grow out and then cull them I try to sell them to recoup some money for feed.

ON the updating thing with IE.... Wynette said IE and this new platform don't get along very well.  I have been using Firefox and have not had any issues that I know of.

Oh good now I feel better that I'm not the only one hatching and giving away chickens too. I just like the challenge of hatching it's fun. I have a friend who takes everything I don't want, that makes it really easy to change your mind every day about what breeds you want.

One of my lav orp pullets laid her first egg today!... Now if the older hens would get a clue. Their molt is over, chop chop!

Awesome! It's a good day for pullet eggs, lol. I'm just excited that I finally am 100% sure I have three pullets and two roos in my little lav orp flock, for awhile there I thought it was going to be all roos!

I really need a hookup like that! I've been planning on just taking my extra birds to a swap but so far most of the swaps here in FL have been 4+ hrs away from me. Hmm...

I do that. =) I can only have so many chickens where we live, but I love hatching them and raising them for a few weeks. Then I give them away and...seeing peoples' faces when they pick up their peeps is almost as fun as watching the peeps actually hatch. :')

I received my first set of eggs today in the mail. They arrived safely..yay.....Although they have detached air cells.
I think that it was said to let them sit for 24 hours then put them in the bator but don't turn them for another 24 hours.

. Did I remember that right or did I miss something?

I think you can actually put them in the incubator now but don't turn them for 3 days. There are some that do it that way. Hard for me though since I have eggs on different days in there already.

Must be its more about letting it rest to reattach?

Will it be ok for other eggs to not turn if they are going in at the same time?

That I'm not sure about. I let mine rest for 24 hours because I do have other eggs already in there. And it is to let the air cells reattach.
