Too bad DH is gone until April. I would probably feel better about using the pellet gun instead of a 22. I'm a horrible shot though.

Hey - Some of us gals can take care of ourselves. I can shoot as well as any guy I know. I've killed many a critter in the hen house. I was raised on the farm and continue to take care of unwanted company in the hen house. If I don't catch them to transplant, I can dispatch them as well. Never put it on a resemue though, dont think its a sought after skill

Well I finally did it. I put out a bait station. I have one smart rat. It won't take snap traps (2 different kinds), live traps, sticky traps, nothing. My final option was poison. Now I will have to start doing yard walks every morning to make sure there are no dead critters laying around.

Ahh a rat, yuck. =( I know a lot of people keep rats as pets and that's fine and dandy. But...not when they're getting all up in your chickens' kool-aid.

If you got a rat that is that smart you probly wont get him with poison ether there pretty good about not takeing poison unless there is nothing else to eat and if there was nothing else to eat he woudnt be bugging you guys , You might end up just poisoning everthing but the rat . I had rats for years and I studied them for a long time just wanted to give you some friendy advice. If theres a really cleaver one they can be almost impossible to get rid of.

I must of had some dumb rats around here. put out some poison and they ate it no more rats.
