Well, your business is of course your business, you are an adult, your decisions, and the consequences for them are yours. I have never been the most tactful of individuals and I do try but it doesn't come naturally to me. My intent was only to impart the seriousness of what you could be walking into, and yes, only with good intentions at heart.

I am pretty passionate about this particular issue, I am going through something really unfortunate myself, I just bought a whole flock of adult birds, yes, spent a lot of money to purchase and have nine birds shipped to me from out of state. Luckily I knew enough to quarantine, because right out of the box there was eye swelling, and I'm waiting on the culture to confirm but the vet said it looks like mycoplasma. Thank goodness I quarantined and have been practicing biosecurity because otherwise my whole flock could have been exposed and I could be looking at having to euthanize every single bird I own rather than just the nine. Even though I have only owned them for a short time it is still a devastating thing to go through and I am heartbroken, disappointed, frustrated, angry, etc etc, all of the above. So I apologize, I meant every word I said but my emotion coming through wasn't meant to hurt you.

I so want this stove:

well my power outage wasn't a total bust so far. time will tell on the eggs cooking. I had one CCL and one NJ from CJ (both girls), 1 speckled sussex one from my lavender project and one from my F1's hatch. a bit less than I had hoped for but not a total loss.
the NJ's and CCL's I have cooking have all but 3 NJ's and 1 CCL veining!!! ALL my F1 lav marans projects are veining too.

Oh no!!! Oh, that's miserable. I'm so sorry!!! Yeah, totally understandable why quarantining might be a sore subject for you at the moment.

And I did say in an earlier post but it bears reiterating -- you are, in fact, right. It's always the smartest thing to do to quarantine a new bird, and sometimes prevents absolute disaster. (Something I have not had first-hand experience with yet.) And I do realize the way I presented the story was pretty misleading

It's a good thing I'm not a comedian -- I'd be even broker than I am

Thanks. I feel so stupid I've been on the verge of tears all day. They are the sweetest, most beautiful things, and I'm not evolved enough as a chicken owner to cull them myself so I will have to take them in to the vet to be put to sleep. It is killing me, and these are birds I've only owned for about a little over a week. Its just a crappy situation.

Oh gosh!!! How did I miss that? I hope it wasn't out too long!

I can't really see veining in my CCLs at all, although there's clearly growth going on. I think I need a brighter flashlight...

I find it hard candling CCL eggs too. Not sure if their shells are thicker or what it is. And I have a pretty bright flashlight.

That's awful! And yes, they are. They're the most remarkable animals -- I had no idea I'd grow as attached to them as I have. It seems like it doesn't matter how stressed I am, all I have to do is go hang out in the coop and pet a chicken, and things don't seem quite so horrible anymore. I'm so, so sorry about your new babies.
