I don't have any answers for that question but for your sake I'm hoping you can combine and feed them all the same thing,  I wouldn't be too keen on purchasing 5 different kinds of feed, hehe.

Tell me about it. Right now I have cracked corn, sunflower seeds, crimped oats, chick starter, chick grower, layer pellets large, later pellets small, layer crumbles, and wild game crumbles. And I supplement with fruits and veggies. I feel like they eat better than I do...

Ok - now that I know how to advertise my poultry, does anyone have any insight on foods? I have several different breeds and feed each group something different and I never change brands. I worry about upsetting their systems. I started by going on recommendations for the breed as far as protein, additives, mineral count etc. do you all think I may be able to "combine" so that I'm not buying 5 kinds of food a week?
I feed chick starter/grower to everyone. Provide the hens with oyster shells. One feed for all age groups. Plus I like the higher protein.

WOW - that would simplify everything. So I could feed my large breeds down to the Seramas the same thing. Newly hatched also?

When Gold and Silver are crossed, offspring are sex linked if its a gold male over a silver female.
so I am picking up (hopefully) a colored Dorking Roo in February. I think colored dorkings are dark gold? so if I bred him to my silver females, would I get sex-linked chicks?
if so, what would the male chicks look like verses the females? (genetics makes my brain hurt!)

I received my psanki egg ornament from psankigirl. This eggs is awesome pretty. It must have taken you a really long time to make it. Thank you!

excellent!!! I am glad you like it! and glad it made it to you because I forgot to ask the husband to get the delivery confirmation and have been sitting here biting my fingernails that it get to you!

YAY!!! need clearance to swap!!!!!

I was buying like four different kinds of feed a while back. Now I just buy layer crumbles (which is only 13.50/50 lbs at the country gas station five minutes away) and starter grower for everything else- chicks, quail, and pullets that don't lay. The starter grower is 16.99/50 lb bag other wise I would do what she said :D

Ours are on MFA at the moment but will be eating H & H Old Fashioned starting in a week or so. I'm completely liking the ingredients and it means a heck of a lot less supplementing on my part. I feel pretty comfortable feeding them H & H as-is without supplementing anything other than the oyster shell dish.

I do give my birds oyster shell and they get fruits and veggies. They also want to "peck and eat" the mixture in their dusting boxes. (equal parts of sand, dirt, and DE). I have been feeding them all these different foods for 3-4 yrs now. If they don't like the starter/grower at first, would you just leave it until they eat? (I have had the seramas not eat for a day if I feed them pellets vs crumbles)

I would leave it but for some reason, the girls love the chick food.
