DMRippy,

I candled my EE eggs from you. Of 10, 7 look great, and 1 is questionable. 2 of them had no development. I'm very pleased

I am still lurking......

What does everyone use to incubate duck eggs? I only have egg trays for chicken eggs.
I use the little Hovobator Genesis so I don't have to consider the big trays of the cabinet models. I have used egg carton bottoms alternating the eggs and turn/tipping the carton tray, hand turning on the incubator bottom, and alternating spacing in a regular egg turner. I do not have duck turner trays. Each of my alternatives is with +'s and -'s. I get so 'attached' to completely hand-turned settings that they almost have duckinalities before they are even hatched =:~) so a stopper or DIS is really an emotional loss.....and an long investment of time. As for size, I have done bantam size (Aust Spotted) but just like chicken eggs (every turner hole) and they are about half the size of my adult Jersey eggs; and Ancona (medium duck) adult eggs are about the same or very marginally larger than the adult Jersey with the pullet Ancona (getting those now) are the same as chicken adult eggs. Because of the weight of the adult Jersey eggs I set them like duck eggs and alternate spacing, sometimes putting a small bantam (d'Uccle, etc) egg in the between but watching for over-heating on the turner motor. Have burned out a few =:~) Don't know if that helps you are not----? k/

I put 16 of 18 bantam olive egger eggs from gamebirdsonly in lockdown this morning. These eggs are phenomenal! Come on little chickies!

These chickies are poppin' out like popcorn.

GBO, will they all look the same when feathered out? I got some white ones in there. I was expecting they'd all be black.

ONLY 8!!!
You guys are slipping!

I did all the calculations by hand, so if anything changes when I get home and input it into the spreadsheet, I'll let y'all know. SWAP ON!

What is the best way to only ship 6 eggs? Ive always sent 18-24 or more, which takes a larger Priority box. Is there a Flat rate medium box thats best for 6 eggs?

flat rate would cost more than shiping regular priority. Use the medium size mailing box from the po. Some people use just the small boxes but I prefer the medium or large size even if it is only 6 eggs. The boxes are free either way.

I usually use the Regional Rate Box A. You have to order them online; they don't stock them at most POs. A good size for 6 eggs and usually the least cost to ship. If you use the USPS website to pay for and print your labels, you get a discount, plus it will tell you the postage on the various size boxes, and DC is free.
