I have a question- since it seems that "Hen's choice" is an acceptable primary offer, and I've seen Olive Eggers in said offers, does that mean I could offer Hen's choice of FBCM's covered by a feather-shanked Blue Copper Marans roo, and OE eggs that are EE eggs, but covered by the same roo?

I was under the impression that the first offer was supposed to be PB from a single pen, but I guess it doesn't say that anywhere.

Your first offer must be purebred then you can offer anything after that.

Ex.....

6 Serama

or

6 EE

She has EE/OE & project birds listed as acceptable offers. Someone also previously asked about offering a mix of pure breds in 1 offer due to sufficient egg supply & Rachael told them that was acceptable as well. For example, the pen I offer EE/OE/CE from is EE & brown layers covered by EE & Chocolate egger roos. This produces EE/OE/CE offspring depending on the specific pairing for each egg.

I gotcha, but since EE's and OE's are essentially mutts, I was wondering if they were acceptable to be in the combo of a Hen's Choice first offer... It's all I've got laying right now >.<

*Edit* I know she says EE's are okay, but OE's aren't mentioned and my EE eggs in appearance are covered by a Marans roo, so they're not really EE eggs... If that clarifies at all?

Rachael specifically listed them in the rules as project birds & acceptable.

I just re-read the rules and see no OE's mentioned. That's why I asked...

I guess I'm confused too since the rules on page 1 of the swap say this:

All pure breeds of poultry are welcome in the swap. Easter Eggers are Welcome as all as they are non-standard color Ameraucanas. meaning mixed color Ameraucanas

- maybe I missed it somewhere else or it was discussed earlier in the swap thread and I missed that too

Aren't EE/OE essentially the same project since you get shades of blue & green depending on the specific mix of birds used

Huh... never thought of it like that. That does make a heck of a lot of sense, though! I think if that is the general consensus, I'll roll with that :) Thanks!

According to the definition of EE in the rules, they are mixed color Ameraucanas, not Ameraucanas mixed with something else. I guess I don't see why one mutt breed (say Ameraucana x BCM) would be allowed, but not another one. If the first offer is supposed to be pure bred, then mixes of any sort would not qualify as a first offer. Just my 2 cents. Of course, anything goes after the first offer of pure bred eggs is met. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
