Pretty sure Hattie is a girl. Her comb and wattles do look red in that pic. Here is another
one of her. I have a Frizzle in all but one of my pens here and get about 50% Frizzles.
Have one Silkied pen too, and one Smooth pen. I love these little chickens!

You better get your stalking in, I'm gonna be done for a while after the NYE backwards swap.

Ack!! Better get my budget together ASAP!!!

Oh my word!!! The thread went crazy and I missed both Sebbies and Barthuners!!!

Why do I have to be poor RIGHT NOW??? lol...
You and me both, post Christmas we are broke, haha

It is snowing here. This did not stop me from wanting to watch the swap thread on my drive home. I resisted the urge, so I can pat myself on the back for that at least

Good morning, everyone!

I am, of course, constantly on the stalk for English Orps of most colors. I'm also watching for good Wellies (and missing them every time!), or Brahmas of standard, showable colors. I've given myself strict instructions about getting into fun colors with anything other than the Orps. (We'll see how well that works). I also want some good leghorns, but prefer browns. I saw some yesterday, but they had gone by while I was doing chores. Anything else I get on a whim will just go in the layer pen for pretty.

I'd suggest a side swap to get what I want, but I have nothing laying, plus my first replacement birds were hatchery stock. I won't have anything good here old enough to lay until fall.

Happy Friday all!!! I see the swap thread kept right on going last night. Such addicts! Yesterday was a great day here. Of the 15 eggs I put into lockdown on Christmas, 14 have hatched and the last one is not quite ready yet but the chick is quite active and strong. So I am quite happy with those results. On a sadder note, we have to put our roo down that has the sour crop. Figured out he has an impacted crop which is causing the other issue. He's lost weight and we just can't get the impaction gone. Thankfully it's not a hen. I have another roo growing out.

Sorry to hear about your roo. Did you try Epson salts and water for the impaction?
