LoL, you are funny. Its a ton of work, but boy do the customers smiles make it worth it. Had 2 customers drive 2 hours one way to come today.

I told my husband when we finally move south and get set up I want to stay home and run the farm I will buy someday.

We had a mellow day here. on Friday I got the doors in that I'd ordered for the cabinets that I'm building in the dining room for all my fiber stash. They are nice! Mission style w/ walnut stiles and frames with oak panels....started breaking the edges and finishing them today.

DH is trimming out the goat shed in prep for putting the siding on ...I'm going to be so happy when it doesn't look like Lowes house wrap!!!

Only made $30 here from sales today. Better than $0 though! Put that into the chicken jar that I just started. They'll have to start buying their own feed from now on! $100 worth of food the day after xmas was a little rough!

 sooooooooooo tired. We closed 2 hours late today with non stop people coming through the farm. I forgot how busy we can be early in the year.

Glad to hear it was a good day. I found out that I am missing 5 birds. This after finding 2 hens headless a couple days ago. I think it is an owl or a hawk. So I made some improvements to the coop. I hope it solves the problem.

One of them was by the fence, but the other was much farther in the run.

Yesterday I actually saw a hawk lay through my back yard. I just moved to the "country" so there are lots of predators that I am "new" to. In the city, it was mainly neighborhood dogs. :-\

I got a 4 month old quad of Crested and Noncrested Cream Legbars today from a lady. She bought them from GFF. She picked the trio she wanted and sold me the other 2 hens and 2 roos. The roos have crest so I will be using them as my breeding roos. One hen has a small crest and the other hen has no crest. Can't wait till they are old enough to add to the pair I have now. They should be laying by spring.

Thanks for the info on the Equine Fresh... I'm going to try it... sounds like it would work really well... I've been using straw because the birds like to scratch it and it's cheap, but I would be willing to give that a try, for sure!

Thanks for the info on culling chicks... I had read about the baking soda method but wasn't sure on the amounts, so those sites you posted (brookhavens, I think?) were very helpful...

Also feeling some envy of CelticOaksFarms place... but hey, that's what dreams are for, right?? BTW... those Blue EE's are sooo pretty... I love the Blue feathering, I think it's my fave so far...

Ditto on the trading and bartering thing... works SOOO much better than money, and is far more satisfying!!
