They could at least send a cheat sheet.
I completely agree. At least I'm getting eggs so I can hopefully identify what breed lays what color. It's just extremely poor business practice to not answer customers emails or requests.

Here is my candler my son came up with the idea and it works.

All the tools you need a water bottle top (I cut it bigger with a utility knife and then marked it and cut the rest with scissors) Electric tape and a flashlight.

Cut the top to fit the top of your flashlight. I have used bigger flashlights and it works fine with them... just focuses the light.

I start the tape at the bottom to attach the cap to the flashlight and work my way up make sure you cover the cap really well so no light is getting out to blind you.

Here is a view from the top after it cap is on.

This is a Marans egg, these are eggs I was going to put in the bator... should have used some with babies in them already

Another thing I do... I use the 30 egg trays for my incubator and I just take the tray into the bathroom (dark room no window) and I just put the flashlight over the top of the eggs, that way I don't have to pick them up and possible drop the eggs..... It also goes really quick.

I bought a similar flashlight off of ebay for around $15 just for the purpose of looking into those dark shelled eggs. Thanks for the idea. Now I won't have to blind myself anymore. I use trays too for incubation and with my luck I would drop the whole tray walking to my laundry room where I candle.

ok - may sound a little "silly" here, but when I look at flashlights, there are like a ba-zillion of them. What do i need to look for in a flashlight to get the best results to make a candler??

Look for the lumen count. I have a 90 lumen tiny flashlight and it works really well. I do plan on gettiń a higher lumen light later, but it really works well.
I have my incubators in my closet, set up with supplies and on their own shelves. I go in there, grab my tiny flashlight, close the door, and candle to my hearts content :)

I am so embarrassed!! I just got a pm from babymake6 and the eggs I sent her were all but scrambled due to my packing!! I have been reading articles on how to pack "small" numbers of eggs. I tried a couple new methods and the one to babymakes6 is NOT the one to use. I have sent eggs to several people. If you rec'd eggs that were less that stellar, please let me know. I usually wrap in small bubble wrap and place in carton, then wrap carton in big bubble wrap and then box. With the small orders I have been filling the "empty spots in the carton with news paper and covering the section with bubble wrap and have had no problems. I will post the method that DID NOT WORK so no one else makes the same mistake. AGAIN, if you rec'd eggs from
me that were not packed properly, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

The one I bought was a "Cree" LED flashlight. I didn't realize it uses a weird sized battery and couldn't find one anywhere. I called Radio Shack and Battery World and neither of them carried it. I ended up ordering 2 batteries off of ebay and had to wait almost 2 weeks to get them because they were from China. My flashlight only takes 1 battery and it is rechargeable ( bought a charger off of ebay too for like $3 at the same time ) which is nice because I always have a back up battery ready to go. The last Marans eggs I candled with this had shells that were super dark in color and this flashlight had no problem seeing what was inside.

BillieSue.... happens to us all once in a while.

I just finished packing up my NYDH eggs to ship today. I am trying the stand on their end packaging that everyone is talking about, to prevent the air cells from detaching.
I am

X100 that they make it safely and everyone has a good hatch from them.

Yall have me worrying now....I don't have mine being shipped until friday!!! Should I pm and change it to Thursday??????

How many lumens is yours?

1,000 lumens!! I know that is a lot and people say to be careful on how bright the light is but this last set of Marans and Araucana eggs I hatched had no ill effects. I put 10 Marans and 5 Araucana into lockdown and all 15 hatched.
