If there were a "special" smiley for feeling like an idiot it would have my name in it!

I guess I could loan it out for special occasions.... and we could share our embarrassment. Hey, we share our troubles and they seem lighter so now hopefully you feel a little less 'loaded' with it

You can wrap around them with bubble wrap with excess ends left open so that they are still exposed to air. I think if you enclose the egg and completely seal it with bubble wrap then they are not able to breathe.
I never leave ends open when I wrap eggs and from what I have heard with people that I have sent eggs too they have had good hatches.

I am so unhappy and frustrated right now. I didn't touch anything on my incubator (except for opening it to turn eggs). I didn't adjust the thermostat. It's been sitting between 37.2 and 37.8 for days. And today I got up and it was reading 39.8 and those poor eggs were so hot! I left it open for about four minutes to let some of the heat out, adjusted the thermostat, and got it back down to 37.6, but I'm scared to even leave the room. I think the main problem is the cooler is just too thin and flimsy (maybe it's responding to the outside temperature -- we've been having a mini- heat wave here, for December), but I also don't trust the hot water heater thermostats anymore. And I'm terrified I've once again addled my eggs.

Dang it, I was feeling so confident after my first two hatches went off without a hitch! This was an expensive way to discover I am not properly equipped for hatching on any large scale. And I simply don't have the money to buy a real incubator right now. I just don't.

I'm going to go take a look on ebay real quick and see if there's a used one going cheap or something.
Oh no, I sure hope your eggs make it.

Well I locked down 12 full NJ eggs on Saturday around noon and NOTHING since. I'm really getting worried. The temp is fine and humidity is at 66% - should I just hold out???

I AM AN IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had, sitting in my kitchen all this time, a very handsome, completely unused, wine refrigerator. I don't even have to drill a hole in the side -- the extension cord sneaks very nicely right through the door without breaking the seal. Just threw a bulb, fan and thermostat in there real quick to see if it will work and heat up and hold heat and everything.

GAH!!! GAH, if I cooked my eggs using that dumb cheap styrofoam cooler when I had this sitting in my kitchen the whole time I will KICK myself!!

Oh no, I sure hope your eggs make it.

Thanks, madamwlf! I do, too, but I kinda think I'm going to have to do some kicking. I have six days to get this to have an even temperature throughout and hold it. I want to get it done sooner so I can hopefully rescue my poor poached eggs and maybe some will make it. It's even got room enough that, if I can ever afford automatic turners, they'll fit right in. Oh, the idea of being able to set eggs, check the humidity and temp every so often, and not worry about them! OH!!! If this works, I am going to become a hatching FOOL!!!
