I broke the membrane and worked his beak so it was out so he could breathe. I am going to give him a few minutes then hopefully, help him hatch. So sad, I was really looking forward to these guys.

it probably isn't...I am bummed.
wonder if I could get some other eggs under her in time or if it is too late.
once they go broody, how long do they normally have before they give up?

Really depends on the hen. I had one that went for 3 weeks and was done. I have another that just wouldn't stop.

Depends on the bird...some won't even finish a her 21 days but i have had one determined girl sit for three months (two of which were on a golf ball)

unfortunately, I don't have any eggs coming any time soon because I thought it would be spring before I'd GET a broody.

anyone who owes me eggs actually have any to send?

AH!!!! that might be a great Idea if it works! I am getting some of Babymake6's Jan 2nd chicks!!!!! maybe I can graft them to her!

I am in the same boat as you. My first broody is sitting on what started as two eggs (1hers and one EE) and has grown to five EE. However they won't be fertile. I am expected eggs this weekend- but she already has been sitting for a week + and I am scared to put good eggs under her if she won't finish setting them. I guess I could just hover and make sure she doesn't neglect them.
