Yeah, the Government is counting the insurance premium as earned income that we will get taxed on.

I think they were supposed to be taking it out the whole time and just realized that they weren't and had to take it out all at once, before the first of the year.

they are supposed to send us an explanation in our pay stub this week...I will know more when I get it.
I could be wrong, but I think this is what they are misinterpreting:

In the US, life insurance proceeds are income tax free.

The one exception is life insurance paid by an employer (your father's place of work, for example) for his benefit. In that case the first $50,000 of death benefits are income tax free, the rest is taxed. If your father died and had a $250,000 policy at work, $50,000 of the payout would be tax-free and $200,000 would be taxed.

Besides, $400 TAX on the premiums? Do you all have $1,000,000 dollar policies? Even at a 20% withholding, this means they are paying $2000/year for your premiums for a GROUP life insurance policy? I think they need to shop around!

Just curious, did they just hire someone new in payroll?

Hey guys! A question for y'all - how bad would it be to lock down eggs four days before their hatch date instead of three? 1) Not bad at all, 2) maybe not ideal but okay, 3) well I wouldn't do it, or 4) what are you thinking???

I have a staggered hatch I didn't stagger so well...

400 bucks would be a week of pay for our household. Means we would be using the credit card and playing catch up for a few months.
A year and a half ago, my husband was working in fort Myers making 4x that... And if I thought 400 bucks would be the difference of treading water or being in debt, I might have not moved so quickly. I hated it there though, and we chose quailty of life over finances. It does put a strain on us that my husband and I have never had to deal with, but its nothing compared to the mess we left in fort Myers.

I have done it before. To be honest I didn't see much of a difference... But, I could see it being a problem with high humidity. When I did it, I kept the humidity a little lower to equal the difference.

I would have to agree with this.

Just had 9 BCM eggs delivered from DMRippy. None broken :D I am probably going to have to call the PO, the box says please call for pickup, which I knew that they might not respect, but she left it on top of my CAR outside. If I hadn't thought I heard something outside, I wouldn't have even known until I went out to the carport. This is happened before. There are two carriers, one who will honk and only delivery if I am home, and the one who thinks she can leave my mail anywhere.

I've had a few conversations with my PO when it comes to not reading the instructions on the box. It has gotten to where my packages are no longer delivered to me house regardless of how they are marked. They have my number, know me quite well there and call whenever I get a box in.

I am probably going to ask them who delivered today and talk to her personally. I will also make an appearance and talk to them about the call for pickup. Normally I am not a complainer about the PO. But they act like I Inconvenience them for asking to pick up

Oh I love my guys at the PO. It's when we get a substitute carrier that things get missed. I would think it would be easier to just call you to pick it up. Then they don't have to worry about delivering it. Putting it on your car is wrong though. It could have sat out there all day.
