My first serama hatched! Or at least my first "this is definitely a serama" serama hatched :) Had two serama-sized eggs with question marks on top -- do pure seramas ever have feathers on their legs?

Sun's coming up and they're popping out like clockwork. Good morning, everybody!

:D morning!!!!

Whee, AyeUpChuck! Yeah, me too -- I knew I was gonna be. Congrats on your new babies!!!

Thanks and same to you. I had to turn the light back off and cover the door so they would calm down and rest a bit. I don't like opening it when anyone has a pip and there are a bunch! Very excited because an F2 OE hatched and I had no idea if any were viable because they're even harder to candle than my BCM eggs!!!!

Oh, nice!!! No project eggs here, but a bunch of fluffy cochins, buff brahmas, coronation sussex, a few marans, silkies (oh my gosh they are the silliest-looking things with those topknots and all that fuzz!) and my two who-knows-whats and my one little silkie, so far! Very busy night :) I'm SO pleased. After the last two attempts I was really unsure of my ability to hatch out anything.

I felt sort of silly and totally smitten staring at that little white baby though! :love I know people, including DH, think I'm a little too gaga about the whole bresse thing but as a chef I've been wanting to cook one, let alone eat one for AGES which short of going to Europe was basically impossible until they were imported. Even when we lived in England you still had to go to France to get one and they were EXPENSIVE! So to have chicks and juveniles on the way makes me giddy beyond belief. Some people believe that they won't be the same because of terroir etc but I'm going to do my darnedest to replicate the style in which they're raised for sure! If any of y'all get a chance to head over to oregon give me a holler and we'll roast up some beautiful chickens!
