So I just ordered me a new laptop!!!  :weee

Yes, I know I have 2 already but this is a special one.  It's a gaming laptop.  My absolute first love before chickens (I know, how can that be?) was gaming.  I would spend hours on my computer playing RPG games.  Loved it.  Then I met my DH and grumpy isn't much of a gamer.  So I sort of stop playing but missed it.  Now I have 4 months alone and darn it, I'm going to game again!!!!

So if anyone is in need of a laptop, let me know.  I will be getting rid of my 2 year old laptop since I don't need 3.

How much? Mine broke awhile ago and I need to get a new one for school soon. :/

So some okay news and some really sort of heartwarming news.

I went to check on the bresse as if given them a low dose of the antibiotic in their water and wanted to change it so it was the right dosage. The girl who was very lethargic and gurgling earlier was moving around like normal and eating and drinking. Her eyes weren't watery looking like earlier. I alma it couldn't tell her apart. She's still gurgling some but she seems way better than she has since she arrived so fingers crossed.

I then took a shower and changed clothes and went to put everyone to bed and I decided to check on my broody. This poor girl has been on eggs for WEEKS! She sat on eggs for over a week until I got my bresse eggs an I swapped them out. Well the unforeseen weather change caught me offguard and I didn't have heat out there as we have a pretty mild winter. Well NYD came and went and nothing. I just didn't have the heart to pull them and planned to sneak chicks under her last night.

Well yesterday I decided to pull one and check it. So I carefully cracked the lid and saw a very developed chick under the membrane. I started getting all girly and emotional and I went to pull the membrane to see what it looked like and it moved! So I ran into the house and stuck it in the incubator. I totally expected it to die but it didn't. It hatched out today. I helped it a tiny bit as the membrane that I exposed was a little dried but its totally out and peeping and resting! I'm still not getting my hopes up but I was amazed.

So then I decided I should check my broody today knowing that at least one was still viable. Y'all she's so smitten! :love She has at least one but I didn't want to bother her too much. She's still guarding the ones she's sat on so who knows what I'll find tomorrow.

What a mixed cray day'

congrats!! so nice to hear nice stories of survival~

well the breeds i'm really interested in are:Ameraucana , LF & bantam Cochin, polish (but especially tolbunt lol), and of course isbar & ccl. BUT will hatch anything, I do have a fun mix pen and a few open poems for new breeds. i'm heading to a brewery right now to begin my first time trying to feed spent grains...curing down feed cost.

If you get more than you can feed out... let me know I will show you how we dry them. I mix them in my pullet grower to extend it and UP the protein. Don't just feed spent grains. They are TOO high in protein and my not have everything your chickens need.
