Two more chicks died overnight from yesterdays Meyer shipping fiasco. Now down to 10 of 25.

Just went out and culled some males. Hate that but didn't get any local response so needed to be done. I did save one BLRW 7 wk old roo from DMRippy eggs (hers are direct Foley) as a back up for mine. Lots of CCL juvi roos to put up on Craigslist and perhaps a juvi pullet or two that didn't develop the crest, still deciding on the pullets. If anyone is interested in any of these please PM me.

I'm so sorry. It's very frustrating to have happen. What did you use? The trials and tribulations of hatching are just overwhelming sometimes.. just speaking for myself here. I have used both paper towels as well as some rubber shelf liner cut to size with no problems with either so far. I tried lining the hovabator bottom but it affected humidity too much so I removed it. I hate the wire on their poor little feet! :/

I think mostly it was a problem because of the other eggs and me pulling the tray out. I think that egg must have gotten rolled to the wrong side and couldn't zip properly

Ok so I am out in the "teenager" pen gathering up some silkies for a lady, and I feel this little "bump" on my leg. Ha!

It was my little MF D'uccle roo. I guess he was upset I was taking his girls.
Well, I sure wish the rest of my roosters felt like that when they came after me. Like that silly Polish roo!

Aww... I had one chick in the current hatch insist on playing football with every egg in the incubator. Just like his/her fresh little mama, that one.. it even insisted on helping one zip..

I have one that pipped on the bottom and then it rolled onto the side and I thought for sure it was dead but now it looks like there is a new pip beside the old one, now 24 hours later. These little ones are taking their sweet time! Come on, chickies...
