Yeah!! They are very pretty. FYI If have any chance of fowl pox in your area you might want to vaccinate the. I have found they are VERY susceptible to it.

So I got a pair of chickens this week and unfortunately the heat pack was left out and the pullet was DOA . I contacted the breeder and they are sending a TRIO to replace them. Yeah!!! I am talking about the bielefelders. 2 pairs!! Woo-hoo . I'm sooo excited. I am only their 1/2 owner CJWaldon is their other mother. She is also the other mother of Penny and Plug the partridge barthuners.

Ok I told enough secrets now, the rest will just have to remain secrets, bwahhhhhaaaa. And we do have more!!

I know I'm bad.

Thank you Jeff! It means more than you know. Luckily, I have them very contained and because of something that happened with other breeders at a local poultry swap in the fall I've been crazy about the biosecurity aspect. As much as I want to have this breed here I've worked too long and hard with my main flocks to throw caution to te wind.
I'm going to have them tested for whatever it could possibly be. I just pray that its nothing horrible. I emailed GFF and am awaiting a response I don't know if they'll do anything? I think I need some sleep more than anything! Hug all those birds you love and cross your fingers for me please

Sorry about your troubles

We all know its more about the birds than the $$ spent. I bet we all at one time have had people say the same thing. They don't realize that we get as attached to our chickens as they do to their pets. I hope it is nothing serious and clears up quickly....

CPL - Sorry you lost one but at least they are making good on the replacement. The more I read on the thread, the more I worry about ordering birds. There seems to be a communication gap....

EIGHT out of the NINE eggs you sent me are developing!!!!
FYI, these are the eggs that where in my genesis that decided to stop heating overnight. These eggs where at 70-80 degrees for probably 10-12 hours. I originally had 3 under my broody hen, and the other six in the bator. I moved them all under the broody when the genesis shut down on me. Embryos are TOUGH!!
On a sad note, I pulled one be uses it was clear (after cracking open, it had started but stopped probably day 4-5) and a second that had a crack in it, and candled like it was not developed. Cracked it open and sure enough there was a moving embryo
I am thrilled!
Donna, I am totally going to get more eggs from you I have never gotten that kind of development before from shipped eggs

I have a confession to make. I should have said something sooner, but I had to see the reactions I would get.

If you get White Orpington eggs from me, I really did not send you lavender eggs, I promise! The white orps do not hatch out white or yellow. The look grayish/silvery in color. Sorry, everyone, I should have warned you, but I couldn't help myself!

That's pretty cool! not that she died, but that they are replacing with a trio!

You bad bad biscuit !!! Lol. Good thing I've hatched both and know!!! Especially since I think I have whites coming from you in Spring! Lol
