I like that one. I got worrying from my grandmother...and I know it does no good! so I pray and I do what I love...hang with my kids and play with my chickens!

My great grandmother would say, "If worrying is going to do you any good, then go ahead and worry." Makes sense to me.  But I am still a worrier though....

I am building my breeder pen for my BCM today! So excited, I really love building stuff, but can't stand the cost of wood.

Sah, have you looked at some of the coops made of pallets or packing boxes? Also, we've found that around here we can go to private person and get rough cut lumber far cheaper, then only need to buy treated wood for parts that will be at ground level. Windows can be had at your local ReStore. I get good double-hung windows, then replace the screen with an overlay of heavier wire.

Perhaps we need to share our shortcuts more!

FL coops and breeding pens dont look like many from up north, we have to worry about heat and open air with a roof is a common theme

I did look for pallets, and that's why I have put this off for so long. I just couldn't find any.
I am pretty much just building a place for them to get safely locked up at night since coons are such a problem for me. I have a 30 by 10 run (that never gets used since everyone free ranges) that I am just going to section off, so I just have to build a frame with a door for that, and a night lock up.

yep... mine are all open pretty much roof and screen/wire. Cover up some with plastic sheeting during winter.... but gotta have ventilation during summer. Celtic, got your PM, just got home from 1st day at new job! Gotta go do chores and will be back to set down at comp. in a bit
