AyeUpChuck - a word of advice if the worst does happen and the state is coming, be sure to have a very logical, matter-of-fact, and detailed explanation prepared of all the precautions taken with the bresse, highlighting how your other birds have never been exposed. The more detail and more you present yourself as someone very knowledgable on the subject, the better chance you have of not having them think the rest of the flock is a big enough risk. Stress the timing (that you only just got them), that you never cross contaminate with details (feeding the Bresse last, changing clothes, shoes, washing protocols, feeder/waterer etc. not being vectors), that they have never been a part of a flock and that you are very careful to keep them in total isolation. If they feel you really know your stuff and can be assured you didn't cross contaminate, you stand a better chance. If you don't show them you have a full working knowledge base or that you've taken every precaution to prevent any kind of spread, they have to assume you are like the typical person that just brings a new animal home tosses it in the flock, and the whole place is contaminated. You don't want to be cocky or show off, but a logical discussion and even a written list of precautions to show them you are serious can go a long way.
Every state is different in how they approach situations, but always give yourself the best chance of coming out on top.
So very sorry to hear you going through all this, I know how excited you were to be getting them. With GFF being NPIP,
that they won't come back with something reportable. If they are NPIP and sent you birds infected with NPIP diseases, you can bet they won't be just stopping at your doorstep, they'll go to the source.
