When I got my first flock, who came with mites, fleas and leg mites, I used frontline on them three months in a row -- a single drop under the wing, cleared up the body mites in no time. The leg mites were a bit of a bear to get rid of, though. Don't know what wormer you'd apply like that; I'd be interested in knowing what brand it is!

ok, my chick is a white orp. It is good and dry. Mystery solved. Going to bed. Gnite all! I can dream about my incubator and pray it arrives without too much beating and bad treatment from my UPS guy!

I read something from a university I think that said the hen/pullet can PICK which sperm to use..... if that is true.... you might should wait if she really like that new roo

Had to go tuck in my girls and stop watching the swap for a bit... Every time I lurk I end up wanting five new breeds! (Or, well, varieties, at least!) Gotta get more pellets for the coop tomorrow -- it's lovely having all the snow melted but instead we have MUCK. And the coop has a dirt floor...

Come spring I'm doing four smaller portable coops, up on TOP of the hill instead of at the bottom of it.

If anyone does email Dr. Bramwell about this, I would be interested in the response.

I was at the seminar also. Basically the way he stated it works is the semen is stored in tubes and the last one to mate is the sperm that gets used. As long as the new rooster continues to mate the hen the old will never get added from the tubes to the egg. The stuff on the bottom gets packed in and finally absorbed by the hen. It was really interesting to listen to him. Therefore as long as your rooster continues to do his job , the sperm from the old one will just get packed to the bottom and never get added to the egg.

That is really interesting. Thanks much. I have two Roos covering the 7 hens and they definitely do their job. :). In that case ill just keep the next couple days for myself and then resume sending with an extra. :) thanks for the feedback. Oh and I can't remember which one she was. I was just chasing to catch her and get her back in and realized I never paid attention as I also had a loose Marans rooster that I was chasing only to realize that was silly since he can mate the free rangers all hr wants. In the panic I just didn't pay attention. Lesson learned and I moved all the latches out of reach of the 2 and 4 year olds. :)

Great choice with the Dickey... I LOVE mine.
Plus the NICEST man in the world that Mr.Dickey. I even called when I got the incubator and he walked me through the setup. My only regret..... I didn't go for the full plexi door. Ya know.....how fun it is to watch eggs in the turner.

I love my Dickey too!! Had to get the plexiglass door. I can only imagine how I would be if I couldn't see in there.
