I keep thinking, this hatch, this hatch my luck will change.  Hasn't happened yet.

Is it just the one rooster cj? I only ask because the male determines gender. I used to have a BCM roo that threw 85%female and 15%male no joke. He sadly died protecting his girls. :(

NO, NO, NO Females determine gender in Chickens! That is why sex links work the females only have one copy of the Male gene and one Female gene. Males pass on the same gene to ALL off spring.

The exception is the sex-chromosomes, Z and W, where roosters have two Z chromosomes and hens have only one Z chromosome, plus one W chromosome.

SOOOOO

Since the Roo can only contribute a Z to ALL off spring the hen determines the gender by giving half the offspring Z's to make more roos and half W to make pullets.

You're a trouble maker. Now I'm looking at the Dickies.

Does a hen produce mostly the same gender? I thought I saw that posted on BYC a while back.

They can.... I think different things go into effect to make genders too... like time of year. I have had a 90% roo hatch and the next hatch was 90% pullets.... so it is all probabilities and evens out... well we hope.
