I'm lucky enough that the biggest birds here (for nowThank you. I'm lucky to find someone to help me. I can't imagine wrestling some of these bigger girls on my own.
I have some fighters. All of the small breeds and bantams I'm not worried about. It's the large girls like the Orps that have some fight to them.I'm lucky enough that the biggest birds here (for now) are the twenty pound turkey hens. I can still pick them up, but any bigger and I wouldn't be able to put my arms around them. For health checks though, I straddle the turkeys. Their wings are strong and feel like you're getting punched if you get hit with one and the legs?! My little royal palm tom put a bruise down the length of my tuckus and thigh because I didn't pick him up securely.
You can set them, just don't turn them yet.Swindledana's eggs arrived today, she packaged them beautifully, but the post office did a number on them, 1 broken, 1 massively cracked and 4-5 detached aircells. They've been sitting upright in a cool room since 11:30am. Can I set them now, but not turn them, or do they really need to sit until tomorrow before setting?
