Oh! And I've got pipping and zipping happening from mrheinz eggs that the post bounced around for ten days. I didn't have a strong enough light to check the colored eggs, but the first one out was an Ameraucana. I'm hoping at least half of them overcome the post office handling.

My Juv. Rhodebars are on their way from Papa Brooder!! I am so excited!! Pray they travel well and arrive safely. I worry about USPS now as everyone has been having problems!!

For those of you using egg cartons for hatching, do you have them in there during the whole incubation period or just from lockdown on?

I just use it for lockdown. But my eggs are not in them tight, except the marans eggs and them i let sit higher. I have never had a chick have trouble. I have had one pip under the carton line but she was still fine.

With the mail being so slow recently I was afraid to ship to mabhera. I shipped Monday and they are already in Puerto Rico!!!!!

If you are scared, check the weather at the sorting stations between you and where they are going. I know BM6 said they were having an ice storm at one of the ones her chicks were going to. They cant get them there, they can't sort. Its not just your weather and the weather at the place you are shipping that matters, its the weather at the sorting centers.

Remember as much grief as we give the PO, they are the only people willing to give the time and attention it takes not to just put something on a belt and dump it onto a pallet and ship it. No one else will do anything that requires hand sorting.Have you ever SEEN a UPS sorting facility? its amazing anything ever gets anywhere intact, lol.

Has anyone ever frozen waterers to make them last longer? I am going away this weekend and was thinking about giving everyone a second warterer that's frozen so it lasts till the next day.

hope he finds his way home.
is he wearing tags with your phone # on them?
is he microchipped?
are there any females in your area that are intact? or is he fixed?
have you called the local shelters?
