Moved some birds today. I put 2 Roos in with the KILLER Pullets LOL. Got to keep an eye on them. These are my LAST roos

I thought maybe they could fight them off if there were 2 of them

Does this mean no more WL hatching eggs for a while?

You would not see much development overnight. Is it possible that was condensation from temperature change? Weeping eggs that were weeping from bacteria or spoilage would smell too. HHHmmm curious

Yes I agree, they smell very bad, would not see any development at 24 hrs, not much at day 7.
Speeking of day 7 just candled 6 white orps from hinks and 7 lavender orps most are questionable

5 Coros 6 lavenders 5 SFH and 2 Ameracaunas most were ok. Some were questionable, I think I will quit candling on day 7 and wait till 14 less stress, more obvious results

Good morning, crazy chicken people!!! I actually dragged my butt out of bed at 7 for a change. Did the animal obligatories and am now sitting here with tea enjoying a few minutes quiet before plunging back into paperwork. I am determined to get the bulk of this done today -- there's some I can't do till all my 1099s get here, but I want everything else DONE!!! Yeech.

Hoping my check gets here today too. I really, really need to break down and get a pair of cheap barn boots -- my current ones are OMG. Held together with duct tape, the rubber soles are worn through in places... Yeah. They're trash. They were such a wonderful find, though! $36 at the LL Bean outlet store in North Conway NH (before it moved) and they lasted 11 years of fairly close to daily wear. Someday I'll get another pair. In the meantime, cheap, washable rubber boots will be the way to go :)

Hoping to have eggs arriving today too -- had some leave the sort facility in PA around midnight last night which means they SHOULD already be at the Mansfield PO. With any luck, they'll get delivered today. Guess that means it's time to fire up the 'bator and get temps stabilizing! They won't be going in till Friday night at the earliest, though.

Heather, that is SUCH gorgeous work. Wood burning is tricky, and that's just beautiful :) When I have my life so arranged that I can get NPIP-certified and have an "actual" farm, I think I'm gonna reward myself by ordering one of your carriers! Of course, by then I fully expect them to be sixty bucks on ebay... plus extra for the customization :)

My one little serama (I think) is starting to hold her tail upright -- it's the cutest thing! I'm beginning to think my two "mystery" black fuzzies are seramas, too -- does CPL have any black seramas? I was taking pictures of her to show you guys but she flew out of my hand and is now under the big brooder, chirping like crazy. Of course, she won't simply come out so I can put her back in her cage... lol! Morning fun with chickens :)

I hope everyone's having a good day!

I have had oozing eggs that did not stink. I have had oozing eggs shipped from people who I really don't think would send me old eggs. In fact- I have only had one stinky egg (non oozing) and probably 3 oozing eggs, none of which stunk.
Oh, I wanted to add, I recalled pulling a couple of quail eggs last summer that did stink, and oozed.
I know that one of the non stinky oozers had a hairline crack, almost looked like a laying fault, that I hadn't noticed, and one had enlarged pores very noticeable, and the third just plain stared oozing. I remember cracking it and it was pressurized. If I had left it, I promise it would have stunk, no doubt
