Well, I know people who have more birds use the 2 foot garden flats. Then just cut it up. I started small, and will probably upgrade to larger trays later!

I've just been growing fodder on a very small scale on my kitchen counter, but the birds love it. I need to build a shelving setup for the utility room so I can grow more.

I finally sat down and listed out the breeds I want/have and pairing them up to pens I already have. I actually only need one more pen, maybe 2 if the bantam wyandottes from Ideal pan out. Wow, that's great for me.

What will do you with the extra banty roos? That's my worry with the bantys, they're too small for freezer camp...

It helps to write it down, doesn't it? All except when you have a break in impulse control, like wanting to go get nine more turkeys... that'll require a larger pen for them, much larger! But, hey, at least I found them BEFORE we moved and started building pens. I think I'm going to add another pen or two, "just in case" , lol.

I have sent banty roos to freezer camp before. Dogs enjoy them.

No different from eating quail or dove, right? Or see if you can sell them for cat/dog food for those who feed a biologically appropriate raw foods diet.

I think whole corn would work, as long as you kept the kernels moist which might poise a problem. I think germination of corn is 2-4 weeks to transplant size so you might just have to have two weeks of trays going at a time.

What about whole corn? We still have a ton of that here.
Oh, finally weighed some eggs. Apparently my eggs are bigger than I thought. Got used to them I guess, since we don't have any other eggs to compare them to. My girls are all laying jumbos, except the "tiny" ameraucana eggs, which are large on the egg scale, lol. Mine are actually bigger than the store jumbo eggs, I know that much, since many won't fit into the jumbo cartons and I have pics of them compared to store jumbos.
