In Sebastopols white masks color, is it the same in chickens? If so then I understand the crossing in and out for type to pull color.

Anyone know what would happen if I mixed my bbs copper marans with my birchens? I know ones mahagony and the other silver? Okay, I don't know, I *think*, lol. Would the offspring then throw both types?

Not really.... one is Silver based and one is gold based with Mahogany (not a desired trait from what I recall) You will make a muddy mess of chicks. You will get birchens with GOLD leakage and vise versa on the Coppers.... Silver Leakage. NEITHER is a GOOD THING. Birchens that are Really just silver are VERY hard to find and breed. Most you see will have gold leakage and they have been crossed with Coppers at some point, maybe to improve the color of the eggs IDK. I would NOT cross them. Marans have enough issues without making new ones JMHO. If you have project in mind and NEED to do the cross that is different. BOTH Copper and Silver are Birchens.

I don't really know that much about rec white. I know they make the BEST whites and if they are SILVER based even better. But that is it. Dom White can have leakage and I don't think rec white does. I asked the breeder about Rec White, I don't think I every got an answer. I just recently found out he has Silvers and Whites too so it would not be a stretch that he used them in the Lavs to improve type and color.

I'm so tired my eyeballs physically hurt. That or it's dehydration. I also feel like an emotional blubber ball. I'm welling up just listening to DH sing DS to sleep. He's having such a hard time with being sick. It must be strange since it's the first time he's had anything like this in the three years he's been on this earth. Going to bed and praying tomorrow will be a better day. Night all!

You could get a white. CRFarm hatched 2 it seems. But I have not seen pictures so it didn't happen RIGHT? LOL I have not hatched any whites in a long time. I had one that hatched a long time ago, kept her and breed her and got 2-3 more white chicks. But I have not hatched much since then, but no more whites. UNTIL CRFarms. That I know of.... Apparently my Lavender Roo and maybe my Lavender hen are carrying rec white and silver. The silver was obvious on my last batch of whites.... that had chipmunk strips down their back. I thought, that she was a sport, but apparently not. BTW the Whites are also USUALLY Lavenders, you just can't see it for the white.

I have the pics but this computer STILL won't let me upload the pics from the camera. Only a usb cable to load directly to the blasted thing and it doesn't want to let me access it.......

Awesome, at least what I suspected was true, that they're the same thing, just different colors, lol. Mostly, I was just trying to be lazy if I could get away with only one pen. Two pens it is then. Thank you!

Hope your son feels better. Had my 3 year old son at the hospital last night with a 106.4 fever. Poor little man was really out of it. Tonight he's racing around like he hasn't a care in this world. At least he bounced back fast. Positive thoughts for yours to do the same.
