x3. I know she was online briefly Monday but haven't seen her since.RBF, her MIL had a stroke :-(

oh wow Oh, I missed alot I bet DH's dad can tell us a bunch of ways to get stuff to grow. He is a 90 y.o 3rd generation farmer, DH is a 4th generation farmer, the whole, well most of the reason we moved from California to Indiana is to take care of mom and dad and be able to keep them living independently on the farm im the Spring Summer and Fall, in the Winter they Vacation at our house.lol and keep shoving dad up on that tractor every Spring and setting him loose in the fields

Well we pretty much blew it yesterday when we didn't go with mom the ER in the ambulance to the hospital yesterday. We thought she was "faking it" to get a vacation from taking care of dad. When we called the hospital at noon they said she was stable and not to rush down. By the time we mosyed on down to the ER after stopping to buy chicken food we get to the ER to find out she had a massive stroke.

they didn't even tell her DR they told him she was having trouble slurring her her speach. not that she was STILL having a stroke and he had to order blood thinners. She tried to tell us that in the ER that they had done NOTHING and that she was dying and needed heparin. We of course told her she was not dying and she would be fine, before we knew what happened.She us alive and about to communicate with us. That is the best thing that her DR said was "miracleous" and that she might recover fully.

I had a polish that was a bit on the protective side. I did a couple of things...first walk in with a big ole plastic rake..works great to keep him away from you. Next thing I did was catch the bugger and held him head down until he would submit and then held him longer to be sure he wouldn't try to fight again. Repeat, repeat, repeat. He eventually stopped, but I always have the rake to eliminate the possibilities from beginning now

As long as I'm not gathering eggs he runs to me, I can pick him up, hold and pet him. He loves the attention. Do you think it would make a difference if I held him down immediately after he pecked me? It has something to do with the eggs....

You didn't miss anything. I just have something awesome coming in a few weeks. I'm so happy but I can't say right yet.

after a ROUGH afternoon and fiasco with my dog, I was able to collect another egg from my speckled sussex pen!!!!!

The first one I collected is due to hatch on tomorrow!!!!

so amazingly they are fertile so far. I don't think it will be long now!!!!!!!!! these are pullet first time layers.

I am going to go soak my knee now.....

Has anyone heard how CPLs mom is doing. I hope she is getting better. Hope CPL is doing ok too

Her Mother-in-law is doing better. It will be a long road, but she does have movement on both sides, from what Rachael told me.
I went over this afternoon and took care of all of her birds for her-I imagine I will probably be doing that some more.

Rachael is doing pretty well too.

Great news! (Rachael doesn't even know this yet!

) I got an egg from her Legbar pen today! Unfortunately, it was frozen and had split.

Hi all, been gone for a while! Sorry, but I'm not reading through 400+ pages to catch up word-for-word. Things are good here, my 10 house (mud room) chicks are doing well.

So sorry to hear about Rachael's MIL. Hope she's all better ASAP!

I got them too and none of them have tracking numbers.

Thanks for the update... I had no idea. I'll be praying and will put her on the prayer list tomorrow. (We meet before school every morning to pray) You just never know what will happen at any given moment. But, God is Good. Will be praying for a full recovery.
