I'll be making my girls oatmeal in the morning!

Prompted by the discussion on fermenting feed, I started doing that earlier this week -- been putting the morning mash in a bowl and setting it on top of the heater for 15 minutes before I take it out to them. Warm and yummy!

I feel so bad for you guys hip deep in the dang snow...it is 79 degrees here in Texas ( I'm near Houston) I was wearing shorts on a chicken gifting mission and a goat rescue... ( a friend has a goat, he got from a slaughter house. I thought this was a great idea to rescue one ...so off we go. Only to realize once there that everyone I passed on was going to be eaten.., sigh so we came home with two dang 85 dollar Pygmy babies... Less than six months old. Will get pics soon

Oh and KYTinpusher! We received your honey yesterday. DS was feeling a little down until he saw that little honey bear! Boy did you make his day. He's actually sat cuddling it right now. He keeps wanting to make cups of tea so that he can pour a little from HIS special honey bear!

My MIL is going home to die on hospice, that's what is going to happen. I am starting to get eggs. Olandsk dwarf, tolbunt, CCL so it looks right on time for Spring eggs or maybe even early. I may or may not be around. I might be here just to distract myself.

All my chickens are set up it only took me 45min to do all the chicken chores today.

I have 6 OE chicks from KYTinpusher, and 3 more pipped! I put 24 eggs into lockdown. Hatch day is tomorrow so lots of early hatchers. These are my birthday chicks. I hope a few of the SFH hatch! It is snowing like crazy here! Lake effect snow. I bet over 6 inches so far and still snowing heavy!

you get a good SFH hatch - they tend to hatch later than the OE.

So I think the weather is trying to recreate the weather when I was born...I was born in Kodiak AK! I measured and we have over 11 inches of snow so far today!!!! Not looking forward to all that shoveling. But I love the snow!!!

I grew up in Grand Rapids. I remember those days of feet of snowfall well. We used to joke that the superintendent would have to jump out his second story window to get out of his house before he would close the schools. Down here, we barely got a dusting today, but the schools are closed.
