I don't know yet. lol Both maybe............. I will probably see which I like better. I really like the way the redwoods look. But I guess looks don't matter. I still want a hatcher also. So maybe a Dickey hatcher. lol So many choices. Anyone have advice on incubating and hatching in the same incubator?
We run chicken and duck eggs in the dickey.

run goose in the redwood

hatch in a red wood

and will hatch in a hatcher cabinet coming soon.

I like hatching separate from incubating so I am not yo-yoing the humidity on eggs still cooking.

I think krafty could swap anything with anyone, actually! And I know my hubby would swap chicken watching for more bling for his Harleys!
I was talking about us husbands, my wife has talked me into so many things...............

I got a used dickey incubator for Christmas but discovered it need new wafers. Hubby put them in, but now I do not know how to regulate it. I have read the instructions a bazillion times but can't seem to wrap my mind on how to work with the new ones in. If anyone could help, I would appreciate it. I read the instructions from his web site, but its a little fuzzy......
I guess I'm a little afraid to try without proper instruction -

Yes, you want a separate hatcher so you don't dirty up the incubator!
Speaking of dirtying up the incubator, I have a Red Dorking that obviously hatched too early. There is blood and goo all over my incubator. I'm not sure what to do because I have chicks, pipping & zipping eggs, and eggs for a staggered hatch. Do I just take the chance tomorrow morning and put them in the hot steamy bathroom clean everything up and put them all back in? It is WAY too nasty to make it through the full staggered hatch or even this hatch because I set eggs for a 3 day period.

On a brighter note, everyone should have at least one Buttercup Bantam in the incubator for each hatch. My 3 are acting as labor coaches and each one is sitting beside their own pipping egg and encouraging their hatch mates to come out and play. It is really neat to watch. This is the first time I have been home and able to watch them in action.

You can actually call Mr. Dickey. I called when I got my Dickey and he walked me through the whole process step by step !!! I have never had a days problem with mine.

Just a styrofoam incubator. I really need to upgrade but would just get myself in trouble.
A backup would be good. One for incubating and one for hatching. Both can be styrofoam. You can try doing the bathroom but you would need to be quick and careful.
