Okay, someone answer me a question. If a roo is doing his thing with the ladies, doesn't that usually mean the hens are either laying or going to be laying????? I just witnessed my new polish roo doing his thing but those girls haven't dropped an egg in 2 months. Does it mean they will be laying soon?

Typically, yes. However, I just busted my six week old serama cockerel trying to breed with the six week old pullets... I think it's a pretty good bet to say that those pullets aren't going to start popping eggs out within the next month.

Quote: Let me know how you like the Spitz.......we had two and couldnt wait to sell them. Reminded me of polish and their less than calm ways.

We have a young SBEL roo who wants to breed anything and everything. ( I think its super hormones personally)

not actually.. I had a few roos in with some 2 month old chicks and I had to move them because they were actually hurting them trying to mount them. He may just be excited

Basically I am getting some Partridge Barthuhners, Blue Columbian Brahmas and some Spitzhaubens for a good deal. I'm trying out the spitzhaubens.

I would say those aren't pure. The coloring on the hen is just wrong. And I'd say the roo doesn't look right either. $20? Too good to be true to me. Hold it, are those legbars or NJs?
they are NJs. she just doesnt want them, to many chickens
she has a trio of gold laced polish also
she also told me that she could tell the difference in them when they were chicks
