Will hold about a hundred baby chicks, at a guess :)
Thanks. You know Home Depot has 54 gallons for cheaper.

I have a dog kennel I can use too. I need to wrap it in wire to keep the darn shavings in. I have a trio of legbars in one right now. This is mostly for bantam birds that are quite feathered out but I could probably take them off of heat.

These are 72 hour brooders before they move out to the brooder house. We use them on the porch also on Saturdays for customers to see the chicks, ducklings for sale.

Need to kick the current residents out today

How many chicks are you needing to brood? I'd do plastic totes over cardboard boxes. Cardboard gets nasty when it gets wet.
The brooder in the basement has about 25 4+ week olds. The brooders upstairs has close to 50 chicks less then 3 weeks old. I have more hatching in the next week and there after. I just need to get myself to when the tolbunts will be gone (mid March) to move the Bart. to that pen and I can use the grow out pen to put chicks outside.

if you goto HD in the window section you can the plastic sign material in long sheets. Cut to fit the dog kennel as half walls, solid walls ect to keep shavings in and neater/easier to work with than wire on a dog kennel.
