Morning all!

Is the issue popping up between multiple breeders or just one roo and hen(s) breeding pen?

if its just one breeding pair I would question genetics and swap the roo (if it is an option). Sometimes two birds gentics just dont click and create issues in the off spring. the roo and hen(s) could be too closely related as well creating this issue.

all just thoughts and something to think about

I had the issue in a female chick, from an egg I got from papa brooder. I asked on the Rhodebar thread about leg issues but didn't get any answers. I have 6 more in the 'bator. I'll let you know how it goes.

What is fermented chick starter?

It is chick starter feed that you ferment at home and use for feed. There is a whole thread on here about feeding fermented feed to meat chicks which has since expanded to other types of chickens. You take feed, add water and ACV with the "mother", stir it daily, add more water as necessary until it starts fermenting and then feed it to the chickens or other animals. It is supposed to increases the digestibility of the proteins, etc as well as add lots of good probiotics. You might check out the thread just do a search for fermented feed. I am all for anything that will reduce my feed bills and improve the health of my birds. Some of the people doing this swear it has improved feathering and growth. It was started for the meat chicks because it helps their bowel health and eliminates the watery, smelly, diarrhea-like poop from Cornish cross meat birds.

ok so whats up with all of this snow in the NE? Storm after storm and just saw a report there is two more chances of snow this weekend.

I am a wimp couldnt do all of that snow

Happy birthday TD! I am shocked at how young you are! I had this impression of a 40-50y/o man from reading your posts. Which is to say, you are wise beyond your years, and here's to many more.

For all you on the east coast, I feel your pain on the snow. On the bright side, we seem to be sending our weather your way, and we have been sunny and warmer yesterday and today. A break is on its way!

Good mid morning everyone! Happy birthday! Hope you get to do something fun!

We are just getting home from our doctor follow up from last night. His fever spiked again despite the shots they gave him and Tylenol, so went in to have him checked out. Scared its Friday...and a three day weekend... Because if anything happens it will have to be straight to the ER. Regardless, he seems happy enough, and I'm not feeling to panic stricken so guess ill call it a good day I appreciate the support this group has given, not only me, but to anyone that has been in turmoil and gotten a cyber hug. For me, and its pretty sad and pathetic, this is really the only place I had to turn to last night... My family doesn't live close, and I haven't made any close friends in this town since we moved here a year ago. So I greatly appreciate you all.

I are spending the afternoon cuddling in bed, watching movies, with my two babies. I am going to ignore all chores that really should be done, and enjoy their company and love them to bits.

I'm so glad he's doing better! Hospital and doctor bills are awful, but your and your son's peace of mind and health are a priority!
