Can I put a female coturnix in with my male button? I am having the hardest time procuring a female(s) button for my male. I don't want to order 50 button quail eggs! The coturnix seem easier to come across and ship for some reason, but I have no experience with quail and I don't know if the two species get along or even hybridize.

Also, can someone please explain the wild card swap to me? Am I just choosing someone to give some stuff to or am I giving away one of my weekly swap opportunities to someone who I feel could use an extra? Or, is there a third definition that I am completely missing?

He is doing so much better.

See my answer above.

We all have 7 swaps to use each week. A Wild card swap adds an extra swap to anyone who has one. It can be used any week. Walli has given each of us an extra swap to give away to anyone we would like to give it to, but it must be given away.
Oh, great thanks.. I had it completely wrong. LOL

My trio came directly from Cheryl in January. She said they were 6-7 months old. They are gorgeous birds, and not flighty at all! I LOVE them! :love

That was one of the things I liked the most (aside from their beauty) - they are nowhere near as flighty as most leghorns I have seen. They are definitely one of my favorites around here.

Ok I wanted to ask if anyone on my route to VA that I am meeting has any lying hens available. I am looking for 1 laying hen of any breed. I am taking my Aunt some chickens for her first flock and would like to include 1 laying age hen as the ones I am taking her will be younger.

I have a buttercup or a buff brahma you could take to her. They are both newly laying.
